The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant started in 1986 and has since produced 32 queens who have gone on to represent Nigeria at various international pageant competitions. For as long as we can remember, Nigerians have gathered every year for MBGN viewing parties because the show is so damn fun. Here are 5 of the best things about watching MBGN.

1) The auditions

Hands down, the most hilarious part of the entire show. women come from all corners of the country for a chance to win the pageant, wear that crown, and sashay across the stage while smiling and waving like the penguins in Madagascar. But that also means being interviewed on camera, and there’s nothing funnier than watching some of the girls fumble the answers to basic questions due to nerves or whatever reason.

2) The talent show

Whenever the talent show comes around, we expect to see things like dancing or singing but are always pleasantly surprised when girls come through with unorthodox skills like knife throwing or leg juggling. It’s also funny that certain contestants claim to be good at a thing but come on stage and suck at it. Schadenfreude is within us all.

3) The fashion show

Turning looks and stunting pretty is the point of every fashion show and the MBGN girls never disappoint. It was even better at the 2021 fashion show. Sponsored and appropriately powered by Malta Guinness, all the contestants came correct, repping their states with fabulous outfits.

4) The slumber party

Malta Guinness is dedicated to helping people live their best lives. The malt brand organised a fun night full of premium enjoyment. Games, branded swag, and all-around enjoyment were the order of the night. The cherry on top of all this was the surprise appearance of Temilola Balogun (Taymi B), the creator of the web series, “Skinny Girl In Transit.”

5) The grand finale

After a night of musical performances and presentations from the various MBGN contestants, and while Malta Guinness was refreshing and interacting with the crowd present to witness history in the making, Oluchi Madubuike was crowned as the MBGN 2021, the 32nd queen since the beauty pageant began.
