    During last week’s session with Aunty, secrets were revealed and we were shook. Yesterday, during Aunty’s session Ultimate Love Day 39, she wanted to know if the women were already talking about marriage, about taking their partner’s last name and living together after the show and so much more.     Bolar and Iykeresa made it known to Aunty (and most especially fans and voters) that they’re ready to start living together and eventually get married once the show is over.

    JayKech on the other hand can’t seem to agree on anything. 

    As usual, Nkechi spent half of their session rolling her eyes at her overbearing man. Jay and Nkechi are clearly far from the marriage talk because they’re yet to agree on anything. Nkechi wants twins but Jay isn’t having any of that. It’s not like having twins is even up to them, so why argue over it anyway? Nkechi isn’t ready to leave Lagos, and Jay isn’t sure about relocating to Lagos too. Can’t blame a brother, that city is the ghetto, please. Long story short, there’s little or no hope for those two.

    Ebi proved me right by planning a surprise romantic dinner for Obi 

    Just yesterday, I wrote about how unromantic the men in the Love pad are, abi? Ebi planned a surprise dinner for his boo, ObiChukwu, complete with waiters. She even composed one sweet love song for him. so cute!

    That was her own way of saying sorry to her man. Obi had no idea how she offended him but if Ebi says she did something wrong, we have no choice but to work with her.

    It’s almost 16 days to the end of the show and what we’re most curious about is how this people will react when they realise that the world is mildly wilding from Coronavirus and what not. Oh well, we wait.

    Everything that didn’t happen on Ultimate Love Day 38

    It’s Ultimate Love Day 38 in Aunty’s Love Pad, and asides the Love Guests talking about nomination, eating free food, existing without knowing about Coronavirus, and learning how to cook Tuwo Shinkafa, nothing else happened. Out of the goodness of my heart, I’ve decided to share with you some facts about Nigerian relationships, just in case you’re a foreigner thinking about dating a naija man.

    I really expected to see men go out of their way to woo the women they are interested in, but apparently I was asking for too much. The first week that was supposed to be “toasting stage”, but they did the barest minimum. At least Jay brought a Valentine’s gift for his woman, others can’t be bothered.

    It took the intervention of Aunty for these men to serve the women breakfast in bed, which the women really loved, by the way.

    Who goes on a speed date to advertise their fade cream? Who randomly ask a woman he’s just met if she’s okay with her future husband bringing home the kids he acquired from cheating on her? Who tells a woman on a speed date that his wife has to stay at home and take care of their children? You guessed right! A Nigerian man! Na them! Feel free to drag these men on twitter, the next time you see them lie that they are better at holding conversations. Drag them like small gen.

    Older Nigerian women and enabling patriarchy are like bread and beans

    I don’t even know who enables patriarchy more. Nigerian men who benefit from it or older Nigerian women who are looking for people to join them in that suffer head life. They swear everything is workable, no matter how bad it is. Aunty, for example is either telling toxic couples (read women) to keep working on relationships that are dead on arrival, or subtly blaming the women while unlooking the men’s faults and shortcomings.

    You thought Arnold and Kachi didn’t handle their multiple nominations well last week? Well, Jay is shaken to the core of his existence and it’s not a pretty sight at all. He spent Day 37 planning a coup in Aunty’s house.

    Jay really thinks he’s Ojukwu with this alliance he’s planning.

    Because Jay, the self acclaimed biggest game player in Aunty’s love pad is up for possible check out for the first time, he has taken it upon himself to form an alliance with some other Love Guests and continue to nominate Rokise, Bolar and Chivia every week, while protecting themselves. This dude is a clown.

    Meanwhile, Jay’s Nkechi is tired and unsure of her relationship with Him:

    While Jay is going from one Love guest to another trying to form alliance, Nkechi, the reason why he’s in the house is having doubts about their relationship and discussing with Chiddy Bankz. I hope they have the least amount of votes this week so they can carry their wahala and go home on Sunday.

    Voting result for week 5 is out and Roksie (Rosie and Kachi) are still leading with the highest number of votes. The finale is going to be a tough battle between Roksie and Iykeresa’s fans.

    Sunday evenings are for eviction, open nomination, and melt down from the couple being up for possible check out. It’s Ultimate Love Day 36 and Jelo is the third couple to be checked out of the Love Pad.

    It’s the end of the road for Jelo in the Ultimate Love Love Pad

    JennyKoko and Louis were the couple with the lowest number of votes, that means that they had to check out of the Love Pad. The good thing about their check out is that they had a great time in the love nest. Hopefully, they can continue to sort things out outside. They left with a hundred thousand naira and a portmanteau filled with gifts. Could have been three hundred thousand naira but home training is a bastard.

    Open Nomination On Ultimate Love Day 36 :

    As usual, it is time for the Love Guests to nominate people they want to see leave the Love pad to their faces. DoubleChris had the highest nomination this week. PreshDavid nominated Roksie and Bolar again. An energy I fuck with.

    JayKech can’t take the heat: 

    For the first ever, JayKech is up for possible check out and they can’t take it. Oiiinnnn! Jay that was telling Arnold to stop acting up because of nomination is the one carrying face this week. Nkechi is sick with worry, as if checking out of Aunty’s Love Pad is the end of the world.  So much love to see it!

    In all, five couples are up for possible check out:

    JayKech, Bolar, Iykeresa, ObiEbi and DoubleChris are up for possible check out on Sunday. Aunty is taking Bolar and Iykeresa for Monday mission, after which one out of these two couples will be saved. I hope it’s Iykeresa.

    The idea of Love Nest is for what again?

    When a couple wins a challenge, I’d expect them to send them on a proper date or fun outing outside of the Love Pad, not give them a private room. What’s even private about it when there are cameras in there are anyway? The Love Nest should be strictly for when the couple are having issues and would love to have private time to talk things through. That’s a great way to aid communication for lovers.

    Can marriage wait for now?

    The Love Guests are taking 5 steps at a time because everyone wants to be the ultimate couple that can come back and prove to us that they got married after the show. This is week 5 and the pressure those people are under is so palpable. Why not give the couple who wins a huge amount of money and baecation on some fancy island? Which one is house and traditional marriage after a year of staying together? These people are not sleek at all.

    The usual Friday night party started really slow, but both Love Guests and viewers were looking forward to whose ex or crush would make an appearance in the Love Pad to switch things up. We were blessed with both!

    Presh’s secret admirer showed up but didn’t show out.

    A young man, also named David, came into the party venue to speak to Presh, his love interest. I don’t know if they expected Presh to leave David Wilson and follow this new David oh, but my good sis wasn’t impressed. Presh used the opportunity to beg him to throw in some votes for PreshDavid, next time they’re up for check out.

    Then Arnold’s ex-girlfriend dropped by for a quick visit

    Yewande, Arnold’s ex-girlfriend simply dropped by to remind Bolar shippers that there’s nothing to ship. She wasted no time in asking Arnold to choose between herself and Bolanle, but Arnold couldn’t answer the question.

    He even chased after her when she stood up to leave. Again my dears, men will disgrace you.

    A Bolanle that can’t pepper us or pepper Arnold? We refuse to stan.

    See guys, Bolanle had an opportunity to pepper us but she disgraced us. Actually, it’s herself she disgraced, not me and you. Home girl started vibrating like one “I better pass my neighbour” generator the moment Arnold walked into the booth to speak to his ex.

    Bolanle dear, you will come out and find out that Arnold referred to you as “his task” in the house, don’t worry.

    It’s bad enough that Arnold referred to Bolanle as “his task” in the house, and even lied to her about what happened in the booth with his ex., he has taken this bastard behaviour a step further by gas-lighting Bolanle and my poor darling even had to apologise. Men will what? They will disgrace you. Stay woke!

    Everything that happened on Ultimate Love day 33

    It’s day 33 of me waiting and hoping that this show will get better, but it’s disappointment upon disappointment. I had high hopes for this show and it’s really below expectation. I don’t want to believe this is how boring relationships are in Nigeria.

    If the producers won’t look into some of the problems I’m about to rant about, they might as well not come back next year. We’ll manage our ships like that.

    Let’s start with the biggest problem on this show: Aunty!

    Aunty reminds me of the typical Aunty in every Nigerian family. They swear men can’t be wrong, and incompatibility doesn’t exist to them. There are many examples of her taking sides with the men and making the women work on relationships that belongs in the trash can. (Bolanle and Arnold).

    There are also some couples that are not compatible (Obi and Ebi), and I can’t believe Aunty is yet to see it after having like 4 sessions with each of these couples. Aunty need to stop being insensitive to the women while pampering the men.

    Then these boring tasks that don’t belong on a dating show:

    Why are they always learning some traditional dance or culture when they don’t don’t even know their partner’s state of origin? Why are they learning pottery and bead making?

    All these tasks reminds me of that annoying SAED program we did in NYSC camp. It’s not like anyone would die if they do something fun with their partners. Example is the games night, when they wanted to beat themselves up because of current affairs. Less of all these boring games, abeg.

    Can we have Professional marriage counselors or relationship experts?

    I’m back on Aunty’s case again, and she will deal with my complains. She’s not professionally equipped to handle the things she’s handling in that house. Leave patriarchy aside, Aunty doesn’t  even know how to resolve conflict between couples. She comes off as insensitive. If they’re coming back for another season, then they need a relationship expert or a marriage counselor to handle these weekly couple session abeg .

    Aunty is always in the Love Pad on Wednesdays to have a chat with the couples.

    Ultimate Love Day 32 started with the Love Guests learning the Nupe traditional dance, bonding with their partners, then Aunty dropped by later to chat with the the couples. It was a quite a revealing session.

    Jay, is it Nkechi you want or your ex?

    Aunty asked if the Love Guests had any ex they still liked and Jay had the nerve to tell Aunty in the presence of Nkechi that his favourite ex is still very close to his heart. He even touched the spot the ex currently occupies, and believe me dears, it’s very high up there. Nkechi, I hope you’re taking note? Most importantly, I hope you have back up bae.

    Then Aunty thought it was a smart idea to ask them their secret on TV

    There are so many questions to ask these people, but Aunty really thought it was a good idea to ask them to share their secret with their partner, and in her own presence, not forgetting that millions of people were also watching? How’s that even still a secret abeg?

    Ultimate Love Day 32

    Anyway, the only secret worth writing about is Rosie’s secret. She told us and the rest of the world that she has a teenage son who she hasn’t seen since he was taken away from her at four months. Sigh.

    Bolar’s kind gesture did a number on Jelo

    Remember JennyKoko and Louis’s ship has been rocky for some days now? Bolanle and Arnold were kind enough to give out the love nest to Jelo, and it may seem as though what needed was a private moment to talk things through.

    They are not exactly matching to the altar straight out of the love nest, but it’s a good place to start. Kisses sprinkled with cuddles here and there, and things are already looking Gucci.

    Whew. With less than 30 days to go, we are sitting on the edge of our seats, wondering if this people will really find the love they’re looking for.

    Arnold and Kachi are working harder than the PR company that cleaned Donald Trump’s mess, all in the name of nomination. These two swear they are unaffected by being up for possible check out on Sunday, but that’s a dirty lie. One is acting like a child, while the other one is meeting those who nominated him to ask JAMB questions.

    Arnold didn’t want to be a part of their weekly task rehearsal:

    That one behaved like a petulant child when it was time to talk about their task rehearsal. He refused to make any contribution. Arnold dear, you’re still going to leave that house at the end of the show, so why are you acting like Aunty’s pad is your daddy’s house? Why so pressed?

    Ultimate Love Day 31:

    Kachi on the other hand started his own reconciliation tour in Ilupeju:

    As opposed to Arnold that was carrying face and snapping at people, Kachi decided to speak to some of those who nominated him, he wanted to know if they had issues. Bros, it’s just a game, and I hope they nominate you again next week. Maybe you’d finally learn not to take things personal.

    Ultimate Love Day 31:

    Well, those two are lucky I’m not in Aunty’s Love pad to bae hunt, i would have continued to nominate them every week for my own entertainment. Let all of us be childish together now.

    PreshDavid escaped nomination again:

    Aunty saved PreshDavid (and not Jelo) this week, which I believe is great because that relationship with JennyKoko is draining Louis, and we need PreshDavid to continue scamming us with their scripted love. They really deserve this save for bringing the biggest twist and drama on this show. A power couple.


    Jelo, Chivia, Bolar, and Roksie are up for possible check out on Sunday. If you have small money you’re not using, feel free to vote for them.

    Here’s everything that happened on Ultimate Love Day 30.

    Day 30 in Aunty’s Love Pad was kind of gloomy. Roksie and Bolar are still not happy about having so many nominations and insist it’s a gang up. Whatever it is, the game remains the game. Chin up, girls.

    The voting result from last week is out. Roksie, Bolar, and Chivia are the couples with the highest number of votes respectively. All three are up for possible check out again, and I suspect they’ll scale through again this week.

    There was a puzzle challenge for the love couples last night and it was the women’s turn to hustle for the love nest. Bolanle is clearly the only who has mastered her husband-to-be’s face. The rest are not serious at all.

    Usual Monday night snooze fest, AKA Movie Night

    Monday nights are for movies in Aunty’s Love Pad. The movies are so boring that even the Love Guests are over it. They just eat the popcorn and sleep off cuddled up on the couch, or simply walk away.

    Aunty, how about something fun for these people? Some of them don’t even know their partner’s favourite colour, but they’re being forced to bond over boring movies only Aunty cares about.
