This is How Twitter Reacted to Will Smith’s Nigerian Accent in The Concussion Trailer

September 1, 2015

Yesterday, we finally got the trailer for the movie ‘Concussion’, starring Will Smith as the Nigerian Dr. Bennet Omalu, who in 2002, discovered a neurodegenerative disease affecting the brains of NFL players.

While the trailer does look pretty great, it has the Oscar nominee sporting a pretty wonky ‘Nigerian’ accent and expectedly Nigerian Twitter had a few things to say about it.

There were the detractors.

The people that thought it wasn’t that bad.

…and the people who thought he actually nailed it.

Well, personally, I am not crazy about the accent, but I am happy to see a movie about a Nigerian on the big screen. The movie is due out on the 25th of December, 2015.
