There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.
KaniBeatz — “Mr Man” ft. Teni & Joeboy
Teni and Joeboy are two of the most gifted new stars in afropop, so it comes as no surprise that up-and-coming producer, KaniBeatz enlisted both of them for his infectious new single, “Mr Man”.
On the solidly produced track, Teni sings about a man that has her feeling conflicted: she isn’t sure if he loves her for the right reasons. Joeboy then joins her halfway into the song, swearing that he is her most ideal option.
Zoro — “One On One (Remix)” ft. M.I & Vector
For the past few weeks, M.I and Vector have been the most talked-about rappers in Nigeria, due to their ongoing beef. So, a remix of Zoro’s 2018 track, “One On One”, featuring both stars, couldn’t have come at a better time.
The remix retains the original’s theme: calling out fake friends. While Zoro and Vector both deliver on this iteration, it’s M.I who ends up soaring the highest. Delivering biting jabs and blatant threats, the rapper makes it clear that he doesn’t fuck with disloyalty.
