2019 has been a memorable year for projects, thanks to strong efforts from Burna Boy, Lady Donli, Asa and more. Thankfully, it’s not over yet, as we are still expecting releases from some big-name stars. So, in anticipation, we decided to highlight nine impending projects we believe will help end the year on a high note.

From Zlatan’s Zanku to Davido’s A Good Time, here are our picks:

Zlatan’s ‘Zanku’ (Nov. 1)

It’s hard to believe that Zlatan, one of the busiest Nigerian artists currently working, is only just about to drop his debut album. That being said, it’s easy to predict what we’ll be getting from a project titled Zanku: A flood of party-starters that will surely strengthen his seemingly endless reign over our dance-floors.

Ycee’s ‘Ycee vs Zaheer’ (Nov. 8)

A brilliant rapper and a skilled singer, Ycee has promised to give both sides of his artistry equal billing on his long-awaited debut album, Ycee vs. Zaheer. With a killer tracklist, which includes features from Davido, Phyno, Niniola and more, it’s clear that this project will be a game-changer for the oft-underrated star.

Peruzzi’s ‘Huncho Vibez’ (Nov. 8)

While Peruzzi’s 2018 EP, Heartwork, didn’t gain a lot of traction, for those who did give it a listen, it announced the DMW star as one of afropop’s most skilled writers. We hope he maintains that same energy on his debut LP, Huncho Vibez, and, hopefully, people actually pay attention this time around.

Joeboy’s ‘Love & Light’ (Nov. 8)

With the astonishing trifecta of “Baby”, “ Beginning” and “Don’t Call Me Back”, Joeboy has proven himself to be one of 2019’s most consistent newcomers. So, we expect his debut EP, Love & Light, to be just as accomplished, even though the 5-track project will only contain two brand new songs.

Sarz & WurlD’s ‘I Love Girls With Trobul’ (Nov. 8)

Last year, Sarz and WurlD dropped “Trobul” – a flawlessly performed and produced track that indicated true chemistry. Now, they are looking to replicate that magic on a joint body of work, I Love Girls With Trobul. Well, if the songs on the EP end up being half as good as “Trobul”, that would be a win in our books.

Davido’s ‘A Good Time’ (Nov. 22)

After many, many failed promises, Davido’s sophomore album is finally set to drop – 7 years after his debut LP, Omo Baba Olowo. With a title like A Good Time, along with a truly epic line-up of guest acts, it’s pretty obvious that the album will be stacked with radio-friendly hits, all rife with crossover potential.

Adekunle Gold’s ‘Afro Pop’ (TBA)

Following the success of Gold and About 30, it seems Adekunle Gold’s new era is primed to be even more exciting. Like his lead singles, “Before You Wake Up”, “Kelegbe Megbe” and “Young Love”, have all hinted, his upcoming LP, Afro Pop, will find him stretching himself genre-wise, and we can’t wait to hear it.

Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ (TBA)

Wizkid has been teasing the release of Made In Lagos for a while now, and it looks like he’s finally ready to deliver. With confirmed features from Damian Marley and Skepta, along with some truly impressive lead singles, this could end up being Wizkid’s best album since his career-defining debut, Superstar.

Reekado Banks’ ‘Daddy To Many’ (TBA)

One of afropop’s most consistent stars, Reekado Banks recently announced that his sophomore album, Daddy To Many, will be dropping sometime next month. Since he has continually proven himself to be incapable of making a bad song, it’s hard not to be excited for another body of work from the hitmaker.
