The songwriter, performer, and acclaimed artist Aya Nakamura has been named Lancôme Global Ambassador.

African Roots

Aya Nakamura is a Malian-French pop singer. She was born in Bamako, Mali and eventually emigrated with her family to France. Coming from a family of griots (West African storytellers, praise singers/poets of oral tradition), Aya is the eldest of a family of 5.

An Outstanding Performer

Having started her career in France, Aya Nakamura reached great fame at the age of 23 with her song ‘Djadja’. Thanks to her multi-cultural background, and inspired by many musical genres, her sought-after music blends African tones with pop rhythms, and her unique musical style elevated her to the top of the international charts.

With her daring personality and affirmative expression of beauty, Aya Nakamura succeeded to impose a new artistic point of view. She is a figure of accomplishment who is paving her own path, reflecting and expressing the aspirations of an entire generation. Aya Nakamura invites her fans to celebrate their individuality and embrace who they are.

Aya Nakamura says: “Being a Lancôme Global Ambassador is indeed a fantastic achievement. I hope that through that partnership I can inspire people around me to become whoever they want to be.”

Françoise Lehmann, Lancôme International Brand President adds: “I have been following Aya’s career for quite some time simply because I admire her artistic flair, together with her exceptional career success. I am glad that Aya joins the Lancôme family, since she is a role model for an entire generation.”
