• There are a few things that are still taboo to talk about in Nigeria. Like sex.

Homosexuality is an entirely different ball game.

Now, there a new short film that’s about the issue.

It’s about sexual relationships, same sex ones to be exact.

Titled Hell and High Water, this film deals with homosexuality and religion.

It tells the story of a young pastor who is loved and adored by those around him. But when he has to confront his inner demons, things change. He has to deal with “a truth” that could make or break him psychologically.

But, whatever his choice is, there will still be serious repercussions.

Because life as he knew it is about to change. Hell and High Water explores the reality of sexuality amidst spirituality, exorcism, blackmail and family life.

It is produced by AMVCA winner, Asurf Oluseyi, and written by Habeeb Lawal.

Asurf Oluseyi won the 2016 Africa Magic Viewes Chocie Award for “Best Short Film” for A Day With Death.

It also stars 2016 AMVCA winner for Best Actor, Daniel K. Daniel.

Other actors are Enyinna Nwigwe, Ashionye M. Racca, Tunbosun Aiyedehin, Adedayo Davies and Chika Okeke.

  • Right now, Olajumoke is the most famous person in Nigeria.

If you don’t agree, you can argue with the internet.

Since she was discovered, she has been getting a lot of endorsements and fronting a lot of campaigns.

So it’s no wonder Nigerians (and the whole world) can’t stop talking about her.

According to Google Nigeria, she is the most searched person in the country from January to March 2016.

She ranks number 1 while David Bowie, Adekunle Gold, Arakangundu, Dede OneDay, Mark Angel Comedy, Alan Rickman, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Natalie Cole and Falz take the remaining 9 spots on the top ten list.

The 27-year-old former breadseller turned model is certainly showing us that the odds are ever in her favour!

She signed on to Few Model Agency, modelled for April by Kunbi, did her very first catwalk on the runway, appeared on the cover of This Day Style and an editorial for Style Mania Magazine. She is also the ambassador of Payporte and Shirley’s Confectionery. These are just a few of the many deals she’s gotten so far. She has also made it onto media platforms like CNN, Huffington post and Buzzfeed.

Olajumoke is steady winning and we hope her market continues to flourish!

So all those harbingers of doom, you can put your mind at ease. Jumoke isn’t going anywhere but higher!
  • John Magufuli keeps giving other African presidents leadership goals. From looking for ways to use taxpayers money for more important things to providing quality health care to free education for children. The man has been known to drive himself.

Now he has done something else. He went to renew his gun license and went through due process.

And Africans are admiring him for it.

Some imagined how the exercise would have been like if it was another president.

@abdikadir2014 @coldtusker In Kenya, this would have been accompanied by political speeches and entertainment by traditional troupes

    — Michael Owuor (@Myqall) March 22, 2016

Some lauded him for setting a good example.

@abdikadir2014 @jadwong #magufuli is just such a law abiding citizen. he is patrotic and a leader africa needs to push forward

    — ossy b (@ossybmusic) March 22, 2016

Some wondered why he needed a gun.

@RobertAlai lol…publicity stunt…does he really need a gun considering He’s the most protected Tanzanian?

    — Roy Senior ⚽ (@Kevchicah) March 21, 2016

    Some compared Tanzania to Kenya.

@RobertAlai that a leader showing example to his people in Kenya you are threatened with the license

    — stephen kikau (@StephenKikau) March 21, 2016

And some wondered about something critical.

@abdikadir2014 ……… Eh….is he putting his Pistol inside his trouser or is there a holster ?

  • A lot of us were beyond heartbroken when it looked like the music duo had broken up. With all the drama and shade they were throwing at each other, and he said, they said, it certainly looked like they had done enough damage and had gone past the point of no return. In spite of this, fans were doing all they could for them to get back together.

Like this really passionate fan that cried her eyes out.

And this girl who couldn’t read for her exams, thanks to P-Square.

Just when we thought all hope was lost, we saw this picture on Peter’s timeline on the 19th of March.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BDILQKRysHy/?taken-by=peterpsquare&hl=en
He said, “Psquare live in Rotterdam Netherland Saturday 26th March. Be there or be squared. It’s Gonna rock!@palmundoworld #festival“. We were just looking, because this wasn’t the first time we heard that they had reconciled, only for them to turn around and be like they’re two, not one. They had stretched our hearts way past its elastic capacity.

But then, Paul posted it on his own page three days later!

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BDO370PRvtc/?taken-by=rudeboypsquare&hl=en
He wrote, “We are there live!!!! Rotterdam Netherlands on da 26th March @palmundofestival“. We began to have hope again.

Then they posted this within the same hour.

That it took our stupidity to realize that FAMILY comes first, We are VERY SORRY“.

Yes!!! Now all’s right with the world!

  • Laolu Senbanjo is an artist, singer and self-taught guitarist based in the United States.

Born in Ilorin, Kwara state, he is a graduate of the Nigerian Law School and a human rights lawyer.

After several years of investing his time and money creating art and music, he became a full-time artist.

Though it has not been easy or rewarding monetarily, he says it’s his destiny or Ayanmo in the Yoruba language.

He draws a lot of inspiration from his Yoruba heritage and it can be heard in his music.

He enjoys the spontaneity and pleasure that comes with making music.

And seen in his art called ‘Afromysterics’.

Laolu describes this as “the mystery of the African thought pattern“. He believes that traditional indigenous spiritual practices help guide us through different phases of our lives. He sees his art as a way to share and express experiences.

Laolu sees everywhere as his canvas. From shoes…

    To jackets…

    To human bodies.

He’s a passionate activist and most of his works have social justice ideologies woven throughout.

Feminism, women and children are often present and common themes in my work.

He’s also had exhibitions all over the world.

The countries include Nigeria, Germany, France, and South Africa.

And he has a huge following of people that love his artwork.

Now, Laolu is collaborating with Nike, the manufacturers of the popular sports apparel and footwear of the same name.

Hired by Nike as the ‘Master of Air’, he’ll be creating Air Max-inspired art at the Air Max Convention in New York City.

According to Nike, “Laolu draws inspiration from his Yoruba heritage and global travels. At Air Max Con, he’ll be creating art, incorporating his love for Air Max, New York City, and sports.”

We say a very heartfelt congratulations to him!

  • Some Nigerians believe that there are no jobs, some believe there are jobs, if you know where to look. But it’s come to light that there are plenty of jobs, but it’s being snatched up by people with “connections”.
Of course there’s the getting of jobs through networking, which is legit. But there are those that aren’t qualified, who still get important jobs because their parents or relatives or family friends are in power. Like the current situation that has come to light.

Sahara Reporters broke the news of Nigerians who were offered important positions at the Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN).

The news site published a list of young people who have influential background and were recently offered appointments by CBN in a covert hiring process.

More than 200 people are said to be on this list!

We know this happens, but this one is on a really large scale. SaharaReporters claims CBN appointed these relatives of various government officials without following due process.

    Wow! Just wow!

That many people?! Nawa for Nigeria.

And we thought the Nigerian government couldn’t surprise us anymore.

This is disappointing, even though it’s not surprising.

This is the second scandal to happen since Godwin Emefiele became the governor of Central Bank.

Before this, CBN was scammed to the tune of 190,000 dollars.

The reactions of Nigerians were varied.

Some made jokes, as Nigerians like to do in these kind of situations.

To some, it’s not only CBN that does this. They just got caught at it.

Some see It as democratic freedom.

Some believe that no Nigerian is innocent. They just do theirs on a smaller scale.

Others believe that the CBN needs to be cleaned up.

  • Most men have unrealistic expectations of what the female body should look like. It puts pressure on women to find fault in how nature created them and some go to ridiculous lengths just to achieve the unrealistic-looking bodies we see everywhere today.

But, in a series of tweets, this guy shows that he’s more educated than most men and that his mother taught him well!

Women loved his tweets so much that some are offering to date him and give him the world.

@younggwhite look at this educated and respectful man who is aware of how the female body really works. Date me and I’ll give you the world.

    — Mia (@chaneIiman) March 20, 2016

Others want more men to be like him.

@younggwhite damn, how I wish all men were this educated and respectful towards women. tell em!

    — marie (@wasteddream_) March 20, 2016

    Let the lectures begin.

    https://twitter.com/younggwhite/status/711411343706836996

no knock on the balloon women @ all, respects to their bodies but the way natural bodies are perceived is wrong. a they were here first lol

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

the term “saggy” is whack. y’all want double D breasts to sit up on a woman’s neck but nature does not operate like that ?

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

the elasticity of a woman’s skin isn’t made to support all that extra weight. hence the “sag” some scientists even call it a birth adaptat.

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

stretch marks come from a sudden growth/change in weight. the female body usually naturally fattens to prepare for pregnancy after puberty

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

hence why women get stretch marks on their stomach, thighs, upper arm, butt, etc. They are literally nothing but lines ? completely harmless

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

y’all are disgusted by nature taking its course on women but condone them being cut open and having silicon sacs put in them/fat transfers?

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

all in all plastic surgery isn’t wrong because a person can to whatever they want to their body. just checking motives though

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

all the dudes that have so much to say about the female body actually know so little about it and it’s hilarious.

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

let me not even get started on the structure of the vagina which is so heavily misconstrued. I really don’t want to. I may

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

just 1 question. how does a girl having sex with 10 guys make her “loose” but her having sex with 1 guy 100 times bring on the term “tight”

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

I’m talking about the same vagina which naturally snaps right back to normal after having an entire baby come out of it.

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

a woman’s cervix can stretch upwards of 4 inches wide when giving birth, with the tissue in the vaginal canal stretching even wider

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

our dicks are not bulldozers. ? in fact they basically light work to the vagina. unless a woman is out here doing dicks bigger than a baby??

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

there is no way in vaginal hell that there is enough penal variation man to man that will destroy a vagina like you idiots claim. just sayin

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

“bro she was loose as hell like I slid right in” congratulations sir that was a properly lubricated vagina. u somehow turned a woman on

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

“bro she was extremely tight like I could barely move in that jawn” you sir are as much of a failure as you sound.

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

this is from the same peanut gallery that considers a woman’s pain and discomfort during sex as “beating it up” lmfao but y’all carry on

    — J (@younggwhite) March 20, 2016

We definitely need more men like this guy in the world!

  • The AMCVA (Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards) 2016 took place a few weeks ago. Nigerian magazine, This Day Style, in their latest issue, published the best-dressed actors and actresses on their front cover.
Then the controversy began. Some people felt that This Day Style was biased for not including Yoruba actors and actresses (a.k.a Yorrywood) on their front cover. By consensus, most people agree that one actress in particular more than qualified to be on it.

She’s Mercy Aigbe-Gentry, the Yoruba movie actress.

Some Nigerians saw it as a snub, because she only acts in Yoruba movies.

    https://twitter.com/_larike/status/711585534519463936?s=09

Or because she’s not posh enough for them.

    https://twitter.com/yew1e/status/711586656843927552?s=09

Mercy is in agreement with her fans and called This Day Style out for it.

She said, “Hey Fam…. so I just came back from church and decided to check IG only for me to see plenty tags on a particular pix posted by @thisdaystyle …..I read pple’s comments asking why Mercy isn’t on the cover and at first I wanted to waka pass, but on a second thought I decided to talk about it, cos it’s been an issue dat has lingered for too long!…….I thought to myself why didn’t Mercy make the cover of @thisdaystyle best dressed list?…. Has @thisdaystyle ever featured a yoruba actor on their cover?………are yoruba movies not part of nollywood? …..is Nollywood not supposed to mean home grown Nigerian movies? …..hmmmmm I am very sure they didn’t coz, they won’t want to STAIN their cover with a ‘RAZZ’ ‘LOCAL’ yoruba actor!….Yes I am razz, Yes I am local and Yes I am a Yoruba actor!…..No I refuse to speak ur almighty English with fake British or American accent!….Because I’ll always remain true to myself!…I am ME ….Proud Benin Woman, Proud Ijesha’s wife and above all proud Nigerian. …And just in case e still dey be una like dream ‘LOCAL TI TAKE OVER’ ….

She wore this beautiful floor-length silver beaded dress by House of Luminee to the awards show.

And you will agree that she killed it! The mother of two was looking hot.

Really, she should have made the cover and now we come to think of it, we are yet to see Yorrywood people on This Day Style’s cover oh.

Yorrywood is still part of Nollywood. They are important too.

It seems like Yorrywood has decided that enough is enough.
