• The past two years have been a monumental one for Burna Boy. He kicked off his renaissance with his masterful mixtape, Outside, and he’s capped it off with a Grammy nomination for his career-best LP, African Giant. So, naturally, everyone is now claiming to be a day-one Burna fan.

Well, if you really are, then you should ace this quiz:

  • The BET awards and Grammy Museum have launched the Sounds of Africa exhibition to celebrate the diversity of African music.

Some of the selected artistes whose work will be showing include Angelique Kidjo, Salif Keita, Laolu Senbanjo, Tuface, Mafikizolo and Ice Prince.

Also showcasing at the museum are African winners and nominees of the Grammy and BET awards, handwritten lyrics, costumes and musical instruments.

From June 24, their work will be on display at the Grammy Museum until later during the year.

    Congratulations to these amazing artistes!

Tickets to the exhibition can be found here.
  • Aderonke Ariyo who goes by her stage name, DJ Soupamodel, has been selected as a governor for the 2016 Grammy awards.

Every year, The Recording Academy selects a group of artistes and producers who will be responsible for deciding how the Grammy Awards will run. And this year, Ronke sits on the Washington DC chapter of the board.

Ronke has worked with local and international artistes including Tiwa Savage, Jason Derulo and was a Grammy DJ in 2013.

Currently, she is the CEO of a music publishing and licensing company, Music BLVD. It’s impressive that African women in the entertainment industry are finally getting acknowledged especially in the international scenes.

    A massive congratulations to Ronke!

  • The nominations list for the prestigious Grammy Awards dropped on December 7 and music heads had something to say.  But then, the epic snub of some A-list musicians and surprising nominations is somewhat similar to admission lists in Nigerian Universities.

Before the list was dropped, everybody swore to getting admitted on merit.

I have an uncle in admissions.

    And anticipated the list like…

Those ones that had stayed at home for two years were the most anxious.

There was the candidate that got admitted on scholarship for being so awesome….

The annoying girl that always came first since primary 1 made the list too, on merit as expected.

And the ones that worked hard for it came through.

Some got last minute admissions into nonexistent departments as consolation after bragging so much.

    Anything is something please.

Some passed the entrance exam but still didn’t make the list.

…And didn’t try to hide their pain.

Some just got handed a big fat Ela.

The uncle in admissions didn’t turn up.

But the ones that didn’t even qualify complained the most.

Congratulations to all the nominees. You can check the full nominations list here http://www.grammy.com/nominees
