If you’re a person who has returned to work after the holidays, re-energised with a fresh hatred for your job or the concept of having to work to not starve to death, these are the stages you’ll go through.

1) Denial

You can’t believe the holidays are over. In fact, you’re not entirely sure if they happened. All you remember is ending work for the year one day and now you’re resuming with no money in your account because you spent it all during the holidays you don’t even remember.

2) Despair

You’re sad because it’s time to return to regular programming and that means spending 90% of your waking hours in traffic to work, at work, or traffic from work.

3) Anger

“WHY DO WE HAVE TO WORK TO SURVIVE?? I DIDN’T ASK FOR ANY OF THIS!I DIDN’T EVEN ASK TO BE ALIVE!!! FUCK CAPITALISM!!!!!”

4) Optimism

“Maybe it won’t be so bad. My job may be incredibly shitty but at least I like my coworkers and…”

5) Despair again

6) Acceptance

You accept the cold hard truth: Capitalism always wins. And there’s nothing you can do to defeat it.
