10 Types of People You’ll Find on Nigerian Instagram

October 16, 2015

So, we narrowed down Nigerian Instagram into 10 types of users based on the patterns we’ve seen. These users are on everywhere and you’ll recognize them instantly.

1. The MUA

The Makeup Artiste is currently the most common, and while a lot of them are  great, some of them just seem to be riding the current wave of ‘makeup obsession’. Their page is filled with before and after pictures, with the ‘after’ pictures looking way worse than the ‘before.’

2. The Motivational Speaker

The motivational speaker will post the sexiest picture they have and then proceed to add a nice little bible verse or an inspirational quote. I mean, who doesn’t think intense cleavage is inspiring?

3. The Model

The model is actually just the motivational speaker after their posts start averaging 1,000 likes. All they need to do now is add ‘model’ and ‘for bookings’ to their bio and their career has officially started.

4. The Couple

These ones are together at all times or at least they want us to think so. They only post pictures of themselves kissing, cuddling, and generally stressing their single followers. The best part is when they breakup and have to delete all the pictures (Yes, I’m bitter).

5. The Fashion Enthusiast

The fashion enthusiast is really just there to make you hate your wardrobe and feel poor. Every time their picture pops up on your feed, you ask yourself “how the hell can they afford all these?” They always split their pictures into three to triple the tension.

6. The Comedian

Sadly not everyone can be as hilarious as these guys here. The average IG comedian is more often than not, making only themselves laugh. Sigh! If only talking in a fake accent always equaled ‘funny’.

7. The Gym Rat

The gym rat hasn’t truly burnt any calories until they have Instagrammed their workout. Come to think of it, it will just be a lot of mirror selfies as opposed to actual pictures of them working out; but hey, at least they’re at the gym.

8. The Seller

The seller floods your feed with pictures of outfits that you don’t really like, and the occasional one you love. They’ll never put up the price though, so to find out you’ll have to endure: “add me on whatsapp”.

Popular Hashtags: #hustle #boutique #instafashion #buy

9. The Photographer

The photographer usually just has the VSCO Cam app and thinks everything is art. Their posts are mostly shots of the sky and their friends, with the black and white filter of course. Everything is classier in black and white.

10. The Chef

The instagram chef is there to make you hate your fridge. They make even the most basic things look like some five course meal. I mean, some have been known to go overboard (I saw eba in a cup once), but we love them anyway.
