• It’s hard to say the name Fela Anikulapo-Kuti without being respectful. He was an artist so great, his music will be continuously sampled and relevant in addressing social issues.

    1. His signature smirk.

    4. That time he was hailing his fans during a visit to Ghana.

    5. This picture of him chilling with his dancers.

    6. Just look at him receiving a phone call with little Seun Kuti in the room.

    7. This really iconic pose he gave after delivering an amazing performance.

    8. When he didn’t give a damn while on stage.

  • Finally, The Voice Nigeria has finally come to an end and we will miss the music and the drama some of the judges served us every Sunday.

After a few months of stiff and interesting competition between the contestants, A’rese was crowned as the first winner of The Voice Nigeria.

Nigerians took to Twitter to share their opinion, especially the ones who were happy for A’rese.

    Even A’rese’s fans never hexperredit.

Some people aren’t huge fans of Chike though.

Some of them were pained sha.

Maybe Chike is an Arsenal fan.

Some people didn’t even notice A’rese throughout the competition.

Brenda’s fans are hoping she makes it in the music industry regardless.

Some just couldn’t forget Linda’s Chandelier performance.

Congratulations to A’rese on this achievement!

  • Davido is not anybody’s mate again. Earlier this year, he signed a record deal with Sony Records and now, he just bagged yet another deal with RCA Records.

His deal with RCA Records means he’ll be rubbing shoulders with international artistes like Zayn Malik, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys and even Aunty Taylor ‘Slytherin Snake’ Swift.

The gist of this signing came out when Sony Music Execeutive, Efe Ogbeni, shared the news on Instagram.

This came right after behind-the-scenes pictures of Davido’s video shoot with Tinashe, who is also signed to RCA Records, broke the internet.

Congratulations to Davido on this achievement!

We can’t wait to see how the full video turns out. You can listen to a snippet from his single with Tinashe, ‘How Long’, below.

  • Nigeria’s military regime wasn’t perfect and was met with resistance from outspoken Nigerians such as Fela, Gani Fawehinmi and Ken Saro-Wiwa.

Being the radical that he was, Fela threw heavy shade at the Nigerian military in his 1977 song, Zombie, where he compared the soldiers to mindless Zombies.

In the light of the recent protests against police brutality in the US, American rapper, Jay-Z, compiled a list of songs that addressed social injustices in a selection he titled, Songs For Survival.

And because Fela’s legendary status and his Zombie song will be forever relevant, Jay-Z added this great song to the collection which is available for download on Tidal.

  • At 10 pm on June 22, one of Nigeria’s top DJs, DJ Obi, started his challenge at  Sao Cafe in a bid to break the Guinness World Record for Longest DJ Set.

Known for his versatile style, DJ Obi has performed on the same stage with artistes like Lupe Fiasco, 2Face, MI and Banky W.

Although the current record which was set in 2014, holds at 200 hours, DJ Obi wants to break this record with a 240-hour set.

Already 6 days into the challenge, DJ Obi is however only allowed a 20-minute break every 4 hours or an hour break after 12 hours.

DJing for so long isn’t an easy task and he has even suffered from swollen feet and fatigue within the past 6 days.

Several Nigerian celebs including Olamide, Lil Kesh, Wizkid, Omawumi, MI and Phyno have gone to show him support at Sao Cafe.

Some secondary school students also went to take pictures with him and wish him goodluck.

You can watch the video of his first 24 hours here.

All the best to DJ Obi. We hope he breaks this world record.

DJ Obi is currently welcoming supporters at Sao Cafe, Lekki. To keep up with his daily experiences during the challenge, check out his Instagram page and Youtube channel.
  • Let’s admit it, this guy is great, no contest.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCffouk3BG8

One quiet day, he shared a video to inspire us in his own way.

    https://twitter.com/KraksTV/status/739952034019827712

And today, his Amoshine is now a movement….

Because when the road gets rough…

When the economy doesn’t want to be nice to you…

And now he has hit the studio and will soon drop a video for Amoshine….

    https://twitter.com/KraksTV/status/745718690000273409

And even if the song kuku has only one line…

And his dab in the studio was just the worst…

    …Amoshine when Amoshine.

We’re sha waiting to see the wonders he’ll perform when he releases the video.

  • You cannot just play with petty people anyhow, but some people just don’t get it. In an interview with hip-hop personality, DJ Akademiks, Seyi Shay claimed Wizkid wrote Drake’s One Dance as an Afrobeat song.

And she was so sure of it and claimed the producers totally stripped the song.

    https://twitter.com/IamAkademiks/status/744591628514566144

But unfortunately for her, she forgot Wizkid was the king of pettiness…

And as expected, instead of refuting the rumour nicely, he simply threw shade.

When you try to fight for someone but the thanks you get is “stop lying”.

When you try to boast about your friend and they ask you to shut up.

Although Seyi Shay apologised for her statements….

We hope she has learnt a lesson on the consequences of doing oversabi.

  • We get it, Nigerian culture is the new cool. Our music is even being jammed to across the world.

Musicians like K-Michelle even featured in a remix of a Nigerian classic song, nice!

But this same Aunty K. Michelle tried to speak “Nigerian” in the most ridiculous manner.

She shared this video on her Instagram page and claimed she was only speaking Nigerian Pidgin English.

And when Nigerians started dragging her…

… She went and posted more videos. Oh dear!

As if that first one wasn’t enough torture, she went on to throw shade at African-Americans in her next video.

She said “I am not African-American, I am just African. Because African-Americans too  busy getting worried about ‘tea’ and getting no bread. Wetin dey happen? How far?”

And she ended the drama while speaking at the top of her voice with a shout-out to Nigerian-American rapper, Wale.

“Look at me, I’m ‘oh-ga’ at the top. Look at you, mumu, just gossiping, blogging and suffering. Look at you, shine your eyes”.

What exactly was she trying to say in those videos?

Because they were just ridiculous and confusing.

Who told her the only way to speak pidgin English was by speaking so loudly?

Who was she even calling ‘mumu’ in the video?

When African-Americans try to ‘speak in an African accent’ but fail woefully…

    Can you not?

If she was trying to win us over with those videos, we’re so not impressed!

Watch the rest of the videos on her Instagram page, @Kmichellemusic.
  • Popular Nigerian fashion magazine, FAB magazine, released the first online edition of their monthly publications featuring Wizkid.

Of course, they had to put him on the cover with a brilliant cover theme showing The Milky Way which contains billions of stars, just because Wizkid is also StarBoy.

But that’s not why we’re here.

Let’s talk about this really ‘interesting’ picture from the magazine shoot.

Wow! So Wizkid wants us to believe he actually uses Pound Sterling notes as tissue paper.

Or what exactly was he trying to achieve with this picture?

When Olamide sang about using Pound Sterling as tissue paper, we never imagined it this vividly, thanks Wizkid.

We totally get it, he has so much money and wears designer clothes to the toilet.

But next time he wants to ‘break the internet’ like this, he should kindly send us a warning notice.
