  • You might think you know the answer, but you don’t.

  • Football and basketball are two sports I always look forward to. The dribble, the thrill of scoring, and the cheering for my team, creates a level of excitement that I can’t explain. Experiencing this again at the just concluded game organized by CMT Finesse, sponsored by my best Nigerian digital bank; gomoney, the bank you deserve, was so satisfying.

First off, I didn’t even know that Abuja has so many world-class football players, no cap. It’s not only Alte artists and Aso-Rock babies we have, don’t drag me abeg but the way the coaches and players were gingering each other, it felt like a movie. It was too sweet! The basketball game, on the other hand, got me so hyped I almost thought it was a live NBA competition.  I’ve never been this pumped at any basketball game. There was something electrifying about witnessing the swishes and slam dunks from the teams in person. The ambience of the Mo Arena too was exhilarating. You’d almost think you were at the NBA championships.

Simply put, both tournaments had me screaming and stomping my feet so hard that people kept giving me bombastic side eye, like “oga no spoil our grass”. Another thing I can’t but mention is how gomoney was able to show that they are really the bank young people can count on. I’ve used the bank for a while, and its features are super functional, but supporting activities that aren’t necessarily finance-inclined – like sports, showed how interested they are in making an impact in young people’s ambitions. Basically, their participation at the event was a nod to a respect for sports, and Nigeria’s young demographic. To be honest, they clearly seem like a bank made for digital natives and tech-savvy youngsters; they have shown this through previous sponsorships, with Zikoko’s HERtitude’23 being a recent one. The energy at the games and leading conversations attest to this.

Think about it, they want to help you manage your finances, live your soft life and enjoy what you’re passionate about. I’m definitely curious to see more gomoney sponsored events in Abuja. At least, the Lagos cool kids will see that we do more than just hang out at parks and gardens. Again, please nobody should drag me.

Overall, it’s safe to conclude that basketball and football games sponsored by gomoney ignited my love for sports in an unforgettable way, and gomoney again, backed up its reputation as the bank we all deserve. So, if you want to bank on gomoney, you know the drill; download the app from your Google Play Store or iOS app store and let’s get this started.

  • Music they say gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything. Music is healing, it is an explosive expression of humanity, something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music and that is why we are particularly excited about this week, which has been reserved to celebrate World Music Day.

Imagine a week dedicated to all things music. That week is here, Make Music Lagos is the global celebration of World Music Day, held annually on June 21. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it has become a celebration held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities across 120 countries. Open to everyone, regardless of age or skill level, this weeklong event calls for people to pour into their communities and share music with the world. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people from across the world transform their city into a dance music paradise.

Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is a multi-venue event, open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur, and professional, of every musical persuasion, shares their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free, un-ticketed, and open to the public. In 2016 Make Music Day activities found another unique home in Lagos Nigeria and has since organized over 100 musical events and over 500 artists have performed on the Make Music Lagos platform.

Now in its sixth year, Make Music Lagos unifies events all over Lagos as it opens its doors for a week-long marathon of music events from 21st to 27th June across multiple physical and virtual locations in Lagos to collectively feature almost every major artist in the music scene. The lineup of events includes Learn to Play, Learn to DJ, Live from Home Concert, New Music Marathon, Pop-up Worship, Music Business Conference, My Song is Your Song, Shutdown Concert among others.

This event gets more exciting as MTN will be giving out amazing prices to select local artists in the Best Cover Challenge. The Music Business Conference, a sponsored event category would take place on the 24th of June and includes two-panel sessions to discuss ‘The structure and future of the music business and an interesting discussion on ‘Women inclusion in the music business’ Panelists include Yemi Alade, Burna Boy’s Mum Bose Ogulu, amongst others. There is also the New Music Marathon happening on the 25th of June, two-hour-long airplay of songs never played on the radio. Here, artists submit fresh and original singles for verification, to be aired on Y’ello Top 10.

Make Music Lagos will climax at the Shutdown concert, the grand finale of the celebration of world music day in Lagos, happening on the 26th of June at Muson Centre. In the last 5 years, the attendance for this concert counts up to thousands. • The sprawling park-like view of Cilantro, Lagos was abuzz on Sunday as your favourite celebrities brought some tropical zest to the party zone. A tango of food and the flavoured beer, the Star Radler Brunch Party was the perfect “staycation” awash with the island vibes. The exotic sight turned out to be a collage of Caribbean-inspired decor and brightly-dressed favourite celebrities in their best dress-down looks.

This year, Star Radler has continued the trend by creating an experience that is hard to forget. Here are some of the hottest fashion cues from attendees at the Star Radler Brunch Party in Lagos.

    The perfect shade

Sunscreens can never take the place of snazzy sunglasses in the midday sun. You can nail that chic sophistication with just the right bright-coloured frames like Quick Steph and Sunky’s sunglasses.

    Dress the part

Who says you cannot mix & match at Tropical-themed parties? To get the show-stopper look, try some fruit and vegetables print, animal or ocean print, t-shirt, trousers or halter-neck dress and other bright coloured outfits with minimal details. Pair up the clothes with some flip-flops, wedges, sandals or transparent slippers like Tolani Baj, Bizzle Osikoya, Akubeze Okocha, Ifeanyi Nwune and more.

    The Cuban vibe

Pay no attention to those who call it the tourist look. BBNaija star Elozonam conveniently nailed this look with a bold coloured short-sleeved shirt to create a contrast with a pair of bubble-gum pink trousers. You can get any fashion police’s nod by simply pairing a playful tropical print with a blazer or suit with beige, navy, grey colours to land that bespoke look. Peep Reekado’s take on the look!

    Keep it short

That’s one advice that works all the time for awardees during their acceptance speeches. It will also work some wonders if taken as a serious tip for that catchy Tropical look. Be it male or female, every guest can get that enchanting look with beige or ankara or floral shorts, allowing long silky legs or muscular ones to get admired.

    A flash here and there

Urban peeps know how to slay with styles without revealing too much. You can get a crop top like Quick Steph’s (if you’ve got the well-toned abs) or a racer-back tank or a deep-plunge neckline to show off.

The brunch party, birthed and executed by the Star Radler team, was attended by several celebrities and friends of the brand. The brand manager, Onyebuchi Nwangwu, stated: We created and executed this party to engage with our TA; we want to have fun and party with you while keeping our promise of continually offering you twice the refreshment.

The Brunch Party lasted for 6 hours, with guests trooping in and out of the venue. The Star Radler brunch will be held periodically and in different cities. Check out @star_radler regularly for updates on the next brunch party location
