• For many Nigerians, every day feels like a race against the clock. Between early rises, late commutes, or errands, a quick, dependable grooming routine is essential. And if we are honest, finding a razor that’s affordable, easy to use, and reliably smooth can be surprisingly tricky.

This year, BIC 1® razor, the familiar orange handle, celebrates a remarkable milestone: 50 years of trust, performance, and unwavering reliability. Since 1975, the BIC 1® has been part of millions of grooming stories across Nigeria and around the world. But how did a simple razor become a cultural icon? How did it earn half a century of loyalty in a world that’s always chasing the next big thing?

Here are five reasons why, even after half a century, BIC 1® remains the razor of choice for millions of trusting hands.

    1. Razor Built to Earn Generations of Trust

When the BIC 1® razor first rolled off the production line in 1974 at BIC Violex in Greece, no one could have predicted the legacy it would leave. By 1975, this one-piece disposable razor had transformed grooming, making it easy, safe, affordable, and accessible to all.

Over the past 50 years, BIC 1® has remained the company’s most sold razor worldwide, a true testament to its timeless design and trusted performance. BIC produces over 5 billion blades annually across facilities in Greece, France, Mexico, Brazil, and Kenya, supplying more than 160 countries, including Nigeria. Its blades, engineered to be up to 2,000 times thinner than human hair, undergo more than 60 rigorous quality checks to ensure durability, safety, and consistent performance every time.

    2. Simple, Easy, and Quick to Use

With grooming becoming increasingly versatile in Nigeria, a razor that delivers effortless performance is a small but invaluable luxury. The BIC 1® razor has perfected this balance of simplicity and effectiveness: strip away everything unnecessary, then perfect what matters. Its one-piece design ensures easy handling and a smooth shave every time, with no extra steps or attachments.

This focus on convenience and functionality is why generations of Nigerians continue to choose the BIC 1®. From students to professionals, it makes daily grooming quick, simple, and stress-free.

    3. Affordability That Doesn’t Compromise Quality

In Nigeria’s economy, every naira counts. With BIC 1®, you don’t have to choose between quality and affordability. You get both, and that’s rare. The BIC 1® razor has always stood out for offering exceptional value without cutting corners. For 50 years, they have continuously found a way to deliver excellence at a price point that makes sense for virtually everyone across Nigeria and around the globe.

And here’s something many users discover: you can get multiple shaves from one BIC 1®. That’s not just value for money; that’s blade technology that actually delivers on its promise. Its precision-engineered blade, durable construction, and skin-friendly design ensure that every shave is safe, smooth, and consistent.

    4. Always Within Reach, Available Everywhere

A great razor is only as good as its availability. The BIC 1® razor is designed to be easily accessible and can be found everywhere, from local kiosks to major supermarkets. It is never hard to find.

BIC 1® is not just a staple in Nigeria; it is a global essential, trusted and used daily in over 160 countries. This reflects not only the razor’s quality but also BIC’s commitment to making personal care products accessible to everyone.

BIC has built a robust distribution network that ensures BIC 1® reaches major cities, suburban neighbourhoods, and rural communities, so everyone can enjoy a reliable shave.

    5. A Cultural Icon That Continues to Evolve

Few products achieve the rare combination of timelessness and modern relevance, yet BIC continues to innovate with razors designed for women and men, combining precision, comfort, and style.

Women Shavers: BIC women’s razors feature innovative designs for a smooth, pampering shave. The Miss Soleil® shaver combines local grooming trends with global manufacturing excellence, offering a gentle, precise shave with its triple-blade technology, ergonomic curved flower handle, and pivoting head that follows the body’s natural contours. Its lubricating strip, enriched with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, provides hydration and skin-conscious care for dry or sensitive skin.

The BIC Twin Lady offers a precise and gentle shave with its dual stainless-steel blades, a slim fixed head for hard-to-reach areas, and a lightweight, tapered handle for easy control.

Men Shavers: The BIC Flex 2 is engineered for a precise, comfortable shave. Its dual open-blade design ensures easy rinsing and hygienic shaving with every use, while the pivoting head adapts seamlessly to the contours of the face for a smooth, effortless shave. Enriched with Aloe Vera and Vitamin C, the Flex 2 nourishes and protects the skin with every stroke, delivering both comfort and performance for daily grooming needs.

Sustainability has also become a key part of BIC’s evolution. Today, handles feature up to 90% recycled content, blades are made with 80% recycled steel, 85% of packaging is reusable or recyclable, and 92% of factory energy comes from renewable sources. This commitment ensures that BIC 1® not only delivers personal care excellence but also respects the planet.

  • PUBG Mobile has officially concluded its Campus Ambassador Campaign across five major Nigerian universities, marking the end of a vibrant, high-energy initiative that successfully brought gaming culture to the heart of student life. What began as an ambitious plan to shift the battleground from screens to schools has evolved into a lasting community of passionate student gamers, leaders, and creators.

Spanning several weeks, the campaign activated campuses at the University of Ibadan (UI), University of Benin (UNIBEN), University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lead City University, and the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). Throughout this period, students experienced PUBG Mobile beyond their devices, through immersive on-ground activations that blended competition, community, and culture.

Across the universities, daily mini tournaments kept excitement alive as students tested their skills, bonded over shared interests, and competed for prizes. These activities culminated in large-scale, tournaments at each campus, drawing crowds of gamers and spectators alike. Beyond competitive play, the campaign featured interschool friendly competitions that strengthened connections between campuses, reinforcing a sense of unity within Nigeria’s growing gaming ecosystem.

Community hangouts were another defining feature of the campaign. These informal gatherings created safe, inclusive spaces for students to interact, exchange ideas, and celebrate gaming culture together. Through casual gameplay sessions, conversations around teamwork, leadership, and creativity, PUBG Mobile positioned itself not just as a game, but as a platform for connection and self-expression among Nigerian youth.

At the center of the initiative were the Campus Ambassadors, the students selected for their passion, influence, and drive. These ambassadors played a crucial role in mobilizing their peers, coordinating activities, and representing PUBG Mobile on their campuses. Through hands-on engagement, they gained leadership experience, community-building skills, and professional exposure, all while being rewarded for their contributions.

Reflecting on the success of the campaign, the Marketing Manager of PUBG Mobile, Jeff Tang, said, “The conclusion of this campus tour is a proud moment for us. What we’ve seen across Nigerian universities is more than enthusiasm for a game, it’s the birth of strong, student-led communities. Our goal was to empower young people to lead, connect, and create around PUBG Mobile, and the response has exceeded our expectations.”

While the campus tour has officially come to an end, PUBG Mobile’s commitment to student engagement in Nigeria remains strong. Opportunities to become a PUBG Mobile Campus Ambassador are still open to students beyond the concluded activations. Interested students can continue to apply, earn, and take on ambassadorial roles that allow them to lead grassroots gaming communities within their schools.

Applications to become a PUBG Campus Ambassador are still open. To register, click here

Reinforcing this continued commitment, Jeff Tang added, This campaign may have wrapped up on campus, but our journey with Nigerian students is far from over. We are excited to keep welcoming new ambassadors who will carry the PUBG Mobile community forward and shape the future of gaming in Nigeria.”

The conclusion of the campaign is not an endpoint, but a milestone. It signals the successful planting of roots within Nigerian campuses and the emergence of a self-sustaining student gaming community. The relationships built, the rivalries formed, and the memories created during the campaign will continue to shape how students connect with PUBG Mobile moving forward.

  • If you weren’t at Red Bull Spin It Loud last week, oops — you missed a certified Detty December starter pack. Four city champions — DJ Shawn, DJ TGarbs, DJ Kendrick and DJ Kaydee — entered SOL Beach with full confidence and zero mercy. On the 4th December, 2025, Detty December was welcomed with both hands at the SOL Beach for the finale of the Red Bull Spin It Loud showdown.

With the “One Theme, One Mix” format, the night moved fast: 5-minute openers to test flow, 3-minute second rounds for stamina, and a chaotic back-to-back segment where DJs had to think on their feet before hitting the final freestyle battle.

The first face-off was pure battle in the best way. DJ Kendrick vs DJ Kaydee went from amapiano heat to Lagos anthems, with hypemen working overtime like their rent depended on it. Kaydee edged it after a wild tiebreaker that had the crowd screaming like NEPA just brought light. Next up, DJ Shawn vs DJ TGarbs — with TGarbs gliding through her sets, serving smooth transitions and vibes that made the crowd forget their December responsibilities.

Then came the big oneTGarbs vs Kaydee in the finale. From Classic Naija throwbacks to Street anthems to freestyle madness, both DJs fired nonstop. But Kaydee came gun blazing, mixing local hits, international bangers, and sealing the night with a final blow that had confetti flying everywhere. And just like that, DJ Kaydee became Nigeria’s first-ever Red Bull Spin It Loud Champion.

Detty December has officially begun. If you weren’t there, better shine your eyes for the next edition. Watch this space for more hint about Red Bull’s line up of events. Don’t sleep on it, get your wings ready and active; afterall, Red Bull gives you wiiings…

  • When Smirnoff Ice stepped into Lagos’ rave scene this weekend, we thought, “Okay, vibes.” But by the time we tried (and failed) to be in five places at once, it became clear, this wasn’t just a brand showing up. This was a full takeover. At this point, it’s only fair to say: Smirnoff Ice is officially the king of Lagos raves.

From Monochroma to South Social, Vogue Boys, Zero Gravity, and Bioskey’s Playhouse, Smirnoff Ice didn’t just sponsor the moment; it powered it. Every venue had its own personality, its own sound, its own crowd, but one thing stayed constant: an ice-cold Smirnoff Ice in hand, in frame, in vibe.

At Monochroma, the energy was intense and immersive. Dark rooms, heavy bass, bodies moving in sync. And cutting through the heat? Smirnoff Ice Original, crisp, familiar and refreshing. It became the pause between dance sets and the perfect reset before diving right back in. For those who wanted an extra kick, Smirnoff Ice Guarana came through like a second wind, matching the pace of the music and the adrenaline in the room.

South Social flipped the switch into something cooler and more laid-back. Golden-hour energy, good conversations, softer lights, but still just as much movement. Here’s where Smirnoff Ice Pineapple had its moment, sweet, tropical, and made for slow sips, soft laughter and long chats by the bar. The Smirnoff Ice cocktails? Elite. Citrusy, refreshing, and dangerously easy to go back for “just one more.”

    [ad]

Vogue Boys was unapologetically bold. Fashion, flash, attitude. Every corner was content. And right in the middle of mirror selfies, fit checks and slow-motion dance videos were cans of Smirnoff Ice Original, Guarana and Pineapple, casually becoming part of the aesthetic. The cocktail bar stayed busy, and honestly, no one was mad about it.

At Zero Gravity, reality got a little blurry (in the best way). The music felt endless, the lights hypnotising, and the crowd completely locked in. Smirnoff Ice Guarana became the rave’s best friend, keeping spirits lifted and energy sky-high. Pineapple added sweetness to the madness, and Original remained the anchor of the night.

Then came Bioskey’s Playhouse, chaotic in a good way, creative, unpredictable and absolutely perfect. It was pure release. Freedom in its loudest form. And Smirnoff Ice was there, holding the centre together while everything else went wild. The cocktails were a crowd favourite here too, pulling people back to the bar again and again.

Across five raves, one truth became impossible to ignore – Smirnoff Ice didn’t blend in; it stood out. In hands raised to the ceiling. In the content flooding timelines. In the little breaks between songs. In the big drops on the dancefloor.

Lagos raved. Smirnoff Ice ruled. And honestly? We’re still recovering… but in the best way possible.
