A few weeks ago, we told you that your everyday Bolt rides could do a little more than get you from Point A to Point B.

The idea was simple. Take your rides as usual. Go to work. Visit friends. Run errands. Survive Lagos traffic. And behind the scenes, a portion of Bolt’s earnings from those rides would go toward supporting vulnerable children and families through SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria. Well, the campaign is over, and we finally know the impact. Together, those everyday trips helped raise ₦5 million for SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria.

Not through donation prompts, fundraising appeals, or asking people to spend extra money. Just through thousands of regular rides completed between May 27 and May 31. And honestly, that’s what makes the story special. We often think making a difference requires doing something extraordinary. But the success of the Rides That Care campaign shows that small actions can add up when enough people participate. That ride to work, the trip to your favourite restaurant, the “I’m outside” ride you ordered at the last minute, they all became part of something bigger.

The ₦5 million donation will support the work SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria does for vulnerable children and families, including programmes focused on care, family support and helping children access opportunities to thrive.

At a time when many Nigerians are navigating their own challenges, it’s easy to assume people have little capacity to help others. But this campaign proved something different. People don’t always need another thing on their to-do list to create impact. Sometimes, they just need a simple way to participate. And that’s exactly what happened here.
