6. The Man For the Job (2022)

5. To Freedom (2023)

Genre: Psychological Thriller

Tobi (Daniel Etim-Effiong) and Shola (Osas Ighodaro) are a couple whose five-year marriage takes a harrowing turn when Shola mysteriously disappears one rainy night. As Tobi searches for his missing wife, he falls deep into depression. 

Grief crippled him from moving on with his life. Even after a couple of years had passed, he believes that she’s still alive, and when his investigation efforts prove abortive, the trauma almost sends him to a psychiatric facility. If you’re yet to see a Nollywood movie that brilliantly explores human psyche and societal structures that enable the silencing of victims, you should give this a watch.

4. Underbelly (2023)

10. Eyimofe (This Is My Desire) (2020)

This is the story of two Lagosians, Eyimofe (Jude Akuwudike), an electrician, and Rosa (Temi Ami-Williams), a hairdresser. Both are on separate quests to escape their challenging realities by emigrating to Europe—Eyimofe to Spain and Rosa to Italy.
