Ajebutter22 — “Ginger You” ft. Mayorkun

Based on his discography, it’s safe to say that Ajebutter22 is at his very best when he teams up with BOJ. With his latest single, the Mayorkun-assisted “Ginger You”, he reminds us that he can equally soar with other artists.

On the Spaxx-produced track, Ajebutter brags about being the ideal boyfriend, singing about how much money, love and affection he tends to shower his women with.

Mayorkun, who seems incapable of disappointing, shines on the infectious chorus. While Ajebutter is impressive on the track, it’s the DMW star that takes it from solid to fantastic.

T-Classic — “Where You Dey” ft. Peruzzi & Mayorkun

Last year, T-Classic landed his breakout hit, “Nobody Fine Pass You“, announcing himself as a rising star to watch. Now, he’s released his debut EP, Underrated, further affirming his solid grasp of afropop.

While all 5 songs on the EP are impressive, a clear standout is “Where You Dey”, which features Peruzzi and Mayorkun. On the love song, all three stars sing about fighting to keep the perfect woman.

T-Classic is great on the song, holding his own beside two talented and more experienced stars. At the end of the day, however, Peruzzi emerges as the song’s MVP, delivering the strongest and most memorable verse.

    Rema — “Beamer”

2019’s biggest breakout star, Rema doesn’t look to be slowing down this year. After dropping an engaging short film, Rema’s Realm, he’s now delivered two expectedly solid singles, “Beamer” and “Rainbow”.

The more infectious of the two new songs is definitely “Beamer”, which greatly benefits from Rvssian’s brilliant production work. On the track, Rema tries to woo a girl by bragging about his wealth and rising clout.

    Teni — “Marry”

While 2019 wasn’t as big for Teni as her 2018 was, she still dropped her debut EP and landed a monster hit, “Billionaire”. Now, to kick off 2020, she’s dropped another potential hit, “Marry”.

On the JaySynths-produced track, Teni sings about feeling pressured to get married, while dealing with a 7-year relationship that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. It’s another relatable song from the typically relatable star.

Dice Ailes — “Pim Pim” ft. Olamide

Dice Ailes is an immensely underrated star, and while he doesn’t drop songs nearly as often as we’d like, whenever he does, it’s a banger. His latest effort, the Olamide-assisted “Pim Pim” is no different.

On the track, Dice begs a lover not to play games with his heart. Olamide, a welcome addition to just about any song, delivers an unsurprisingly solid verse, making this impressive track even better.

  • The Lupita Nyong’o-led adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Americanah has been a long time coming. Back in 2014, the Oscar-winning actress took to Instagram to announce that she’d acquired the rights to adapt the acclaimed novel.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/o4fzdHHueC/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

It was initially announced that the book would be made into a film, with David Oyelowo set to star alongside Nyong’o. Well, in the past couple of years, a lot has changed. The book will now be made into a limited series for HBO Max, and David Oyelowo will not be starring.

    The engrossing story:

Written in 2013, Americanah tells the story of a young Nigerian woman, Ifemelu, who immigrates to the US to attend university. The novel, Adichie’s third, traces Ifemelu’s life in both countries, threaded by her love story with her secondary school sweetheart, Obinze.

    The impressive crew:

The 10-episode series will be written and showrun by the talented Danai Gurira (Black Panther). The first two episodes will be directed by Chinonye Chukwu, who recently became the first black woman to win Sundance’s biggest prize for her acclaimed movie, Clemency.

    The incredible cast:

Joining Nyong’o will be Harriet’s Zackary Momoh playing Obinze; Orange Is The New Black’s Uzo Aduba playing Uju, Ifemelu’s aunty; Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins playing Blaine, Ifemelu’s present-day boyfriend; and Tireni Oyenusi playing Uju’s son, Dike.

    When does it drop?

The series will premiere on HBO Max, the upcoming WarnerMedia streaming service, which is set to launch on May 2020. No exact release date has been announced for Americanah, but we are hoping a teaser or trailer drops sometime soon.
