• 7 Moments That Made Guinness Open for More Campaign One to Remember

    An intentional campaign.

Between July 18 and September 30, Guinness Open for More gave Nigerians across the country the chance to win cash prizes and a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Along the way, there were plenty of memorable moments, from winners who could hardly believe their luck to content creators who found hilarious ways to bring the promo to life.

Here are seven moments from the campaign that stood out to us.

    1. Queen Thompson Was Not About to Fall for Another Scam

After being scammed twice earlier in the year, Queen Thompson had good reason to be suspicious when she received a call claiming she had won the grand prize in the Guinness promo. If you were in Queen’s situation, would you immediately believe it?

    Exactly.

However, she eventually believed them, and look at how that turned out for her. She went from suspecting a scam to seeing her brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in the flesh. Truly, what her God can’t do does not exist.

    2. The Whisper Game That Went Wrong

Anyone who has ever played the whisper game would tell you how easily it is to descend into chaos, and if you’ve seen content creator Jojofalani’s take on it, it was absolutely no different. He asked a line of guys on the street to pass along a simple message: ‘You can win a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in the Current Guinness Promo.’ By the time it reached the last person, the words had turned into gibberish. Prado had somehow turned into ‘Prize ’, and some of them were passing along words like ‘in the next three months on the month’

Nigerians. You’ve just gotta love them.

    3. Cynthia Who Originally Had ₦300 In Her Account

Imagine this: one minute, you are a market woman trying to get by with only ₦300 in your account, and the next minute, you are suddenly credited ₦1,000,000. That was Cynthia’s reality when Kraks TV host, Aramide, surprised her with the news that Guinness had credited her with the money.

Cynthia was so happy with the news that she practically lifted Aramide off her feet, and honestly, that was such a joy to watch. Thank you, Guinness!

      4. Joseph Vs. 90 codes: Joseph Won

Imagine that the next code you enter is the one. Now imagine entering almost 90 of them first. That’s Joseph Nwafor, A devout Guinness Drinker who treated persistence like a full-time job. His reward? ₦ 100,000, and a visit to the Guinness Headquarters in Ikeja, where the team was thrilled to hear his story.

Moral of the story: If at first you don’t succeed, try, and try again. And again. About 90 times.

      5. The Oliver Twist Story

When Mrs Mojisola was informed that she had won 100,000 naira, she was delighted. So delighted that when she was asked what she would do with the money, she said she would buy more Guinness, as she would like to win more.

She was indeed Open for more.

      6. Asherkine’s Cash Express Delivery

One thing we learnt from this campaign was how Guinness was intentional with their prize winners. They are so intentional that they had famous content creator Asherkine surprise Mr Chidebere, a motor spare parts dealer, with his winnings in cold, hard cash. Oh, to be Mr Chidebere, existing in his home in Ejigbo one minute, and receiving ₦1 million the next.

      7. Nigerian Skitmakers Will Always Understand the Assignment

From Miss Ezeani’s procrastination skit to 2pacishakeh’s warning about throwing a potential Prado, content creators found hilarious ways to creatively weave the Guinness Open for More into everyday Nigerian situations. Whether it was a group of friends arguing over bottle caps or people hoping to manifest their way out of paying rent, the skits felt like something Nigerians could see themselves doing, and really, who would have thought a bottle cap could inspire so much creativity?
