    “Just give me my red cup, Henny and a Coke” — Emeka*, 32, M

    “I love a classic Hennessy and Coke mix before a night out. It’s sweet but has a nice kick. A splash of Hennessy in a glass, and top it off with some coke. It sets a great tone for the rest of the night. Once your boys bust out the Hennessy, you know we’re trying to have a great time.”

    “Hennessy and ginger beer will take you there” — Biodun*, 25, F

    “I love experimenting with my drinks. One day at a house party.  I had a cup of ginger beer, and someone brought out a bottle of Hennessy. I didn’t want to say no or pour out my drink, so I asked him to give me a few splashes of the Henny. Best thing I’ve ever tasted. It had the fizziness of the ginger beer and the zing of the ginger, but the Hennessy flavour still came through. I mix this cocktail whenever I can get my hands on it.”

    “My friends look at me weirdly when I do it, but if you want a unique drink, you need to mix Hennessy and a mojito-flavoured drink. It diminishes the flavour of the Hennessy a little, but I promise it’s such a vibe at the start of your evening.     “I don’t like drinking my liquor neat at all. One night in 2021, I found that I had run out of mixers for my Hennessy, except for some leftover 5Alive berry blast juice. I closed my eyes and mixed them together, and the result was surprisingly pleasant. I have tried sharing this amazing recipe with my friends, but they think it’s sacrilege to mix 5Alive and Hennessy. I think they’re missing out.”

    “I get judged heavily whenever I do this around my friends, but I like to mix my Hennessy with beer. I don’t know if I like the fizziness, but I think the Hennessy adds a punch to the beer, like adding salt to fries. My friends hate it when I do it, but I don’t care, I think it’s great.”

    “If you like a Negroni, you’ll like Hennessy mixed with Campari” — Timothy*, 36, M

    “I love Negroni cocktails, and I make them myself at home a lot. When I don’t have all the ingredients, I can still make something similar by mixing Hennessy with a splash of Campari. It gives it that deep bitter taste, followed by the aftertaste of the Hennessy. I love it for a lazy evening at home after work.”

    “I like my orange juice with a splash of Hennessy” — Gozie*, 28, F

    “I love a cold glass of orange juice and with a splash of Hennessy to give it ‘body’. To make my favourite mix, I usually pour a few packs of Caprisonne in a cup and top it up with some ice and a splash of Hennessy. It’s a cocktail I can only get at home, but it hits the spot every time.”

    How to make it: Blend Hennessy, coconut milk, and pineapple juice with ice until smooth. Close your eyes, sip, and pretend you’re on a beach—when really, you’re in your living room with no light, but God dey.

    3. Soft Life Honey Lemonade

    Because you deserve sweet things, even when the economy is not smiling.

    What you need:

    • 50ml Hennessy
    • Lemonade
    • Honey (optional)
    • Mint leaves

    How to make it: Mix Hennessy with lemonade and add a touch of honey if your soft life requires extra sweetness. Stir in fresh mint for that extra “I better pass my neighbour” vibe.

    4. Issa Spicy Henny Apple Spritz

    • 50ml Hennessy

    How to make it: Mix Hennessy with apple juice, top with soda water, and garnish with a cinnamon stick to feel fancy. Whether it’s hot or cold outside, this drink has you covered unlike whatever data plan you’re on.

    5. Berry Broke but Bougie

    If you want your drink to match the vibe of your Instagram captions.

    What you need:

    • 50ml Hennessy
    • Mixed berry juice
    • Lime wedge

    How to make it: Mix Hennessy and berry juice, squeeze in a lime wedge, and stir. This drink is all about the sweet and tangy vibes—just like your situationship, except this one won’t ghost you.

    6. Citrus Flex Henny

    For when you want to feel fresh but still look like you planned everything ahead.

    What you need:

    • 50ml Hennessy
    • Orange juice
    • Lime soda
    • Orange slice

    How to make it: Blend Hennessy with orange juice, top with lime soda, and garnish with an orange slice. This one screams “I’m not even trying,” but you and I know you spent at least 10 minutes making it perfect.

    7. Henny Mint Condition

    It’s the mojito remix you never knew you needed.

    What you need:

    • 50ml Hennessy
    • Mint leaves
    • Sugar
    • Lime
    • Soda water

    How to make it: Muddle mint leaves with sugar and lime juice, then add Hennessy and soda water. Stir it up for that refreshing, stress-free life you’ve been manifesting since January.

Heavily vested as an industry leader and curator of urban culture, Hennessy is set for another disruptive takeover with this years’ edition of the Hennessy Artistry with ‘The Conversation – a 3-part docu-series that will focus on the evolution of Hip hop in Nigeria through the eyes of its 2 biggest faces – M.I and Vector.

    It is no news that Hennessy has made an indelible impact on Nigerian urban culture– creating and defining pop culture trends for over a decade. The platform has released numerous successful cyphers and engineered some of the greatest collaborations in the Nigerian music industry; providing a platform for rappers, producers, and Afro-pop artists to create enduring partnerships and genre-defining tracks. The Hennessy VS Class platform has single-handedly launched the career of numerous talented artists in the Nigerian music industry.

    Coming off the success of these amazing projects, Hennessy Artistry sits down with M.I and Vector Tha Viper in a bid to shed more light on what can be considered the biggest “beef” in Nigerian hip hop history. Dating as far back as 2014, the rift between M.I and Vector Tha Viper is one for the books, birthing diss tracks such as “The Viper”, ‘Judas the Rat”  and “The Purge” which showcased the phenomenal lyrical prowess of these remarkably talented artists.

    In a long-overdue conversation on what really started the beef and why it has dragged out for this long, the rappers share their sides of the story which makes for great content, and what we hope will ultimately lead to a resolution.

    ‘The Conversation’ will feature 3 episodes airing every Tuesday from 11 am starting today, 15th of September, and run till 6th October, 2020 via Hennessy Nigeria’s YouTube channel.

    We spent the better part of last night, with the good people at Hennessy and the legendary Felipe Pantone at the launch of the new limited edition Hennessy Very Special bottle. Apart from all the free food and the endless flow of alcohol, here’ s everything we loved about the launch.

    This uber-cool interactive piece

    The first thing we noticed as we walked through the door of the launch was this uber-cool interactive piece designed by Felipe Pantone himself. In a world that has quickly become technologically driven, it’s interesting to watch art and technology intersect. Hidden sensors placed around the piece caused it to move with the hands of a person standing right in front of it. Sorcery we know.

    Actually every single piece of art on display

    We don’t know what big flex might mean to you, but to us, it means 8 of Felipe’s pieces getting shipped in all the way from Spain just for the launch. Nothing short of genius is the only we can think of to describe the Argentian-Spanish artist. His work has been exhibited all over Europe, America, Australia, and Asia and you can see why from these photos.

    The Hennessy Very Special bottle

    We can already tell that the new Hennessy Very Special limited edition bottle will be every collector’s dream. In the artist’s own words “The essence of our times is being everywhere at once, simultaneously loose and connected.” In designing this bottle he drew on that maxim to create new and unexpected experiences in the world of Cognac. He calls it “Remixing the Present.”

    All the free food and booze

    We know we already talked about the food and alcohol, but everything was so good we had to mention it twice. From the Caramel Puff Puff to the Honey & Soy Chicken to the incredibly delicious sliders. We also loved how they used Hennessy to create unique cocktails.

    The people

    The eclectic mix of people in the Nigerian art space present at the launch made us lose track of time. Before we could blink we had been at the launch for 4 hours, and we found it hard to leave even though it was hours past Boyin’s bedtime.

    Felipe Pantone himself

    We had the pleasure to meet the genius behind the new bottle’s design himself – Felipe Pantone, and chat with him a little about the inspiration behind his design and what drives his art. Fun fact about the artist, he never lets his face get photographed so we couldn’t take any bragging rights selfies. As compensation, he gave us these goodie bags with a bottle of the limited edition bottles signed by him in each one. Thanks, Felipe!

    Views from the 12th floor

    The launch held on the 12th floor of Pearl Tower at Eko Atlantic, and as you can imagine the view was breathtaking. But don’t take our word for it, you can see it here yourself.

    Watching Felipe’s thought process

    Yes, we are on a first-name basis with him now, because we met him and shook his hand. You guys really need to get on our level. A short video was played at the launch, giving us some insight into Felipe’s thought process when designing the bottle. We are sorry we didn’t save any of the Caramel Puff Puffs for you, but you do get to watch the awesome video here.

  • Let’s not deceive ourselves. When a person leaves their house to come and celebrate at a party, they’re also expecting that you will fill their stomach in return. Let us now look at all the drinks you’ll find at a Nigerian party, and why they aren’t bringing the drinks you want to your table.
