• Whenever an A-list celebrity gets married, the world stops, and everyone is in attendance. The love isn’t just in the air. It is also trending on social media, making headlines, and fueling heated comment section debates.

On Sunday, Davido tied the knot with his long-time partner Chioma in an intimate event in Miami. Though our invite, which we had on good authority, got lost in the mail (wink-wink), we can only imagine what it must have been like to be present at the event.

Anyways, we asked 10 Nigerians which celebrity wedding they would have paid to attend. Here is what they had to say.

    Olivia

    Couple: Adesua & Banky W

    Wedding Hashtag: #BAAD2017

    Willing to Pay: ₦100,000

Watching Adesua and Banky in The Wedding Party influenced my sentiments, but I would have paid, even if they’d said a ticket sold for ₦100,000, to attend her wedding, regardless of who she’s marrying.

Adesua went all out to make their day beautiful. I love her circle of friends, too. I don’t mind being a part of it or meeting them. Secondly, Adesua looks like she’ll be intentional about the food. I love food. I follow her, and I know she loves food, too.

But no matter how good the food is, I’ll never miss the dance and cake-sharing moments, and the opportunity to network. My heels wouldn’t be too high, but my gele will touch the ceiling. My corset and make-up would be on fleek, too. If I’m seated next to Adesua and Bisola Aiyeola, who I really love around her, I’m fulfilled for life.

    Mikun

    Couple: Teebillz & Tiwa Savage

    Hashtag: #Tiwabills

    Willing to Pay: ₦100,000

Mine is a bit problematic because they are no longer together, but it’s Teebillz and Tiwa Savage’s wedding. I was deeply invested because the OG romance babe who gave me and my sister so many romantic songs to hold dear was finally getting married. HipTV was in Dubai for the wedding, and thankfully, they were able to take the online in-laws along. I loved the decoration. If I could buy a ticket to be there in person, even a ₦100,000 fee would be a non-issue.

Seeing how beautiful the setup was made me want a garden wedding, too. They also had these super cool chairs that looked like they were made of glass. Tiwa looked like a bride through and through. She just looked so in love, and I only wished to attend to see the glow in person. It’s sad that things ended the way they did, but I pray she falls in love again and gets to experience that bridal glow again.

    Betty

Couple: Rita Dominic & Fidelis Anosike

    Hashtag: #ReelDeel22

    Willing to Pay: ₦200,000

Oh my God, it’s Rita Dominic’s wedding. It looked like the absolute party: all my faves were there, and Rita Dominic was getting married! The fits were gorgeous, and from the videos, it looked like the DJ knew what he was doing. A blast that I’d love to be part of. If they had wedding tickets and sold for ₦200,000 that I’m not using, trust me, I’d be there.

    Titi

Couple: Stephanie Okerede & Linus Idahosa

    Willing to Pay: ₦1,000,000

I would have paid to attend Stephenie Okereke’s wedding. I was 12, and knowing she was getting married to a rich, fine man was just the stuff of dreams. I remember how people talked about it, how the newspapers carried it, and how beautiful it looked. That wedding was everywhere. Everyone talked about it.

Stephanie is also very beautiful. I liked her so much then that knowing she was getting married was like, ” Oh yes, my favourite actor is getting married.”

One thing about Nigerian weddings or events in general is that chaos is one of our ingredients. There is always noise and disorganisation, but this wedding was so calm. It was serene. It was like gentle love. No stress, no noise, just two loving people in a calm atmosphere exchanging vows. I wanted to be there. To be part of that rich, calm, gentle love. No push, no shove, no stress. Just mutual love and respect and quiet money.

Then, she posted one yacht video sometime in April this year, I almost lost my mind. I was like, “WTF? Please, put me here.”

    Chigor

Couple: Johnny Drille & Rima Tahini

    Hashtag: #CountMyBlessings

    Willing to Pay: ₦100,000

I’m not crazy about celebrity Nigerian weddings like that because they turn out to be razz a lot of the time. But the one I’d have paid to attend is Johnny Drille’s wedding, and that’s mostly because it came out of nowhere. I didn’t even know he was dating. I just saw him one day announcing he had gotten married. The wedding must have been chill too, and that’s completely my vibe.

I would have loved to hear how he met his wife, hear him sing (live) and just take in the gorgeousness of that calibre of wedding without the usual loudness associated with most celebrity weddings. Just peeking into that circle actually would be nice. Johnny Drille is amazing, and I bet his circle is too.

It’s a long shot, but I’d have paid to attend with hopes of getting into the circle of his cool non-musician friends. I just know he’s a cool person. I’m just a 9-5 babe, but I would have paid ₦100,000. That’s the highest amount I can go, though.

    Abass

Couple: Mr Eazi & Temi Otedola

Willing to Pay: At least $250

I would want to be there to witness the union of Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola’s love. Theirs looks true, warm, beautiful, kind and something anyone would want to be a part of. Right from the start, their love has been calm and gentle. Just to be there, I’d pay $250 or more, depending on their starting price.

    Pauline

Couple: Priscilla Ojo & Juma Jux

    Hashtag: #JP2025

    Willing to Pay: ₦50,000

I’d pay at least ₦50,000 to be at Priscilla Ojo’s wedding because she shows up for people around her, which indicates that she has a sweet personality. But my major aim there would be to make connections with people that’ll add value to my career and business.

    Tiana

Couple: Kene Jackson & Ugo Ekule

    Hashtag: #Kego25

    Willing to Pay: ₦200,000

The wedding happened in the East and it felt like a destination wedding. The location was a resort and each guest had an allocated area. The wedding was loud too, from the bride being carried to the reception on the shoulders of four muscular men to singer Flavour performing. The wedding also had a lot of dignitaries, and I’d pay ₦200,000 to be there. I think that’s a fair price for the food, the connection and the views of the location.

    Dele

Couple: Wale “Tec” Davies & Susiear

    Willing to Pay: ₦500,000

After hearing Tec of Show Dem Camp rap about a lot of “pies” (AKA babes) and his experiences as a Lagos bachelor in music for so many years, I couldn’t believe that egbon finally married. Some pictures and video clips from the wedding, which happened in the UK, made me curious about how lit it must have been.

As a listener of Tec and Show Dem Camp, I have observed that he is a big baller who likes to do things on a lowkey. But I also know that keeping things on the low doesn’t mean cheap. You see, the lifestyle of minimalism with liquid wealth is my type, and he’s kind of living that life. I know Tec is not the kind of person to bring large amounts of attention to his special intimate moment, but being in a personal setting like that, which isn’t about his music or music business, with all sorts of cool people from Nigeria and other parts of the world would have been a great experience. I don’t mind dropping ₦500,000 just to attend his wedding.

    Adaora

Couple: Dinma Umeh & Obinma Ifeanyi

    Hashtag: #ForeverWeDo24

    Willing to Pay: ₦5,000

I love Dimma Umeh. I am a huge fan and I’ve been watching her on YouTube for as long as I can remember. If I could, I’d have paid (though nothing more than ₦5,000) to be at her wedding. It would have been the perfect opportunity to meet her in person and also connect with Jola Ayeye and FK Abudu in a more personal setting, since they were in attendance too.

  • As if dealing with T-Pain’s shenanigans isn’t enough pain, the association of “God, when” people went through it this year.

And they have these Nigerian couples to thank for reminding them that they’re still far from finding true love.

    Veekee James and Femi

Veekee James and Femi met through a mutual friend, and after nearly two years of dating, they decided to make a lifelong commitment. They had their traditional ceremony on February 9, followed by a grand white wedding at the Harvesters International Christian Centre the next day.

Veekee’s $30,000 diamond and pearl-encrusted wedding gown was one for the books. Nancy Isime, Toke Makinwa, and Eniola Adeoluwa, among others, were at the wedding.

    Wofai Fada and Taiwo Cole

Arguably one of the most controversial weddings of 2024, Wofai Fada and Taiwo Cole’s union wasn’t just about the glamour—it came with its fair share of drama. Shortly after their stunning pre-wedding photos went live, Taiwo’s family released an official letter distancing themselves from the marriage. To make matters worse, a viral voice note allegedly from Taiwo’s father claimed the groom hadn’t completed the necessary family rites to legitimise the union. Despite the chaos, the couple tied the knot in May, solidifying their love story under the hashtag #TWO2.

    Dimma Umeh and Obinna

Beauty and lifestyle YouTuber Dimma Umeh set the internet on fire in June when she shared her wedding photos online. The influencer married her soulmate, Obinna, in a private civil ceremony in July.

“Got legally married to my lover last month. Everything was beautiful and went just as we’d hoped. It was the civil wedding of my dreams tbh, and I’m grateful to God for how perfect it was,” Dimma wrote on IG.

The couple followed up with a traditional wedding ceremony in August in Enugu.

    Davido and Chioma

Davido and Chioma had internet users running from page to page to keep up with updates from their official wedding hashtag, #CHIVIDO. The two exchanged vows on June 25 in a strictly by invitation ceremony at the Harbour Point Event Centre.

At the end of the carnival-like ceremony, the internet had just one question for the couple, “Why didn’t they get a bigger space?”

    Salem King and Jesi Damina

In April, Nigerian content creator Salem King and singer-songwriter Jesi Damina surprised the internet with a soft launch wedding announcement that no one saw coming. The couple had everyone in a chokehold with their wedding hashtag, #SKJD24. The ceremony was like a mini-reunion for content creators, with some of the biggest names in the industry showing up to celebrate their love.

    Kunle Remi and Boluwatiwi

A together-forever might not have happened with his onscreen boo, Bimbo Ademoye, but Kunle Remi pulled a “They never me coming” on us when he married Otedola’s niece.

The Nollywood actor and his partner, Boluwatiwi, tied the knot in a stunning two-day ceremony that combined traditional and white wedding celebrations. Bimbo Ademoye, Bisola Aiyeola, and many Nollywood folks joined the couple to celebrate their union.

    Moses Bliss and Marie

Moses Bliss and his fiancée, Marie Wiseborn, tied the knot in March 2024.

The sweetest part of this union? The gospel singer released an EP, “Love Testament”, just before the wedding, and it set the perfect emotional tone for the wedding ceremony—goals for real.

    Yhemo Lee and Thayour

When nightlife entrepreneur and socialite Yhemo Lee married his longtime partner, Oyindamola (aka Thayour), in August, it was nothing short of a show-stopping event. True to his larger-than-life persona, he transformed his wedding into a carnival-style extravaganza that had Lagos buzzing. With A-list celebrities, socialites, and city big shots in attendance, the hashtag #ThayLeeForever trended for days.

    Sharon Ooja and Ugo Nwoke

Nollywood sweetheart Sharon Ooja dated her boo for two and a half months, and it was just about enough time for them to switch things up.

Sharon and Ugo tied the knot in a star-studded traditional ceremony on June 27, 2024, followed by a grand white wedding two days later. The ceremony happened a few days after #CHIVIDO.

    Priscilla and Juma Jux

Although some people thought their engagement announcement was a PR stunt, it’s safe to say the influencer and her Tanzanian boo are walking down the aisle later this year or sometime in 2024.

Priscilla’s mum, Iyabo Ojo, never misses an opportunity to remind everyone that the wedding party is coming soon. Fingers crossed!

    Taye 9ja and Toni Tones

Nigerian content creators Taye 9ja and Toni Tones had their internet fans teary-eyed after they got engaged in June. Tones returned to quote a 2022 post in which she tweeted, “I’ve met my future husband, guys. I’m going to retweet this tweet one day and quote “I knew it”…because yeah.”

They’re walking the aisle this year, and the internet in-laws are hyped AF.
