Because, not long after his first movie, ’30 Days In Atlanta’, bagged a Guinness World Record for being Nigeria’s highest grossing movie, his 2nd movie, A Trip To Atlanta has reportedly smashed the record with a box office hit of 168 million Naira
The film features the adventures of Akpos (played by AY Makun) and his fiance, Bola (Funke Akindele) during a family visitation trip overseas.
Although it’s trailer came with seriously low expectations, this new record only proves Nigerians enjoy a ‘special’ type o comedy. You can watch the movie trailer below:
In 2014, Nigerian comedian, A.Y Makun, produced his 1st film, ’30 Days In Atlanta’ which went on to become to become the highest-grossing movie in the history of Nigerian cinema with a box-office total of N137 million.
Proving that 2016 is a great year for Nollywood, ’30 Days In Atlanta’ is the first Nigerian movie to be featured in the Guinness World Book of Records.
Sharing the news via Instagram, A.Y explained how his movie was recognised as one of the films with the highest domestic gross in Bollywood, Nollywood and Hollywood.
It’s obvious that the only way for Nollywood is up. We hope they keep up their efforts to produce quality movies for Nigerians and the rest of the world.
