There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

Oxlade — “Craze” ft. Reekado Banks

Afro Nation Ghana, the upcoming music beach festival, is one of the most anticipated African events of the month, and in a bid to get people even more excited, the festival recently dropped a star-studded body of work, Afro Nation Vol. 1.

A standout track off the project is “Craze”, led by Oxlade and Reekado Banks. On the mid-tempo banger, both stars sing about a woman who is making them lose their mind. The concept might not be wholly original, but the execution is fantastic.

Kizz Daniel — “Jaho”

Kizz Daniel, one of the most consistent but frustratingly problematic afropop stars in the game, has come through with an expectedly catchy new single, “Jaho” — a follow-up to his immensely off-putting hit single, “Pak ‘n’ Go”.

On “Jaho”, solidly produced by DJ Coublon, Kizz Daniel trades in rote misogyny for inspiration and spiritual, singing about being true to one’s self and holding on to God. It’s a solid Kizz Daniel song, made even better by its unproblematic message.
