There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

D-Truce’s “For You” ft. Bella Alubo

With the release of projects from Asa (Lucid), Teni (Billionaire) and Wale (Wow… That’s Crazy

), Friday was stacked with a lot of great new music. However, that meant a few solid singles got lost in the shuffle, with the strongest of the lot being D-Truce’s fantastic “For You”, featuring Bella Alubo.

On the track, D-Truce skillfully raps about a passionate relationship that has made him a better man. Bella Alubo then joins in halfway and instantly makes the song better, nearly stealing the show with her sultry voice. At the end of its almost 3-minute runtime, “For You” emerges as one of the year’s strongest duets.

A-Q – “Distraction 2”

Most of the year has been rife with seemingly endless rap beefs, but none of them have gotten half as much attention as the M.I-Vector saga. Following Vector’s diss track, “Judas The Rat”, the lyrically gifted A-Q – an affiliate of M.I – has now responded with the scathing “Distraction 2”.

On the relentless track, A-Q goes all in, spilling tea and throwing shots. While the production work isn’t particularly memorable, it ends up not mattering much, as A-Q’s bars prop up the track and keep us engaged for its lengthy runtime. In a year filled with diss tracks, “Distraction 2” stands out as the most brutal.
