Guess you don’t know a (kind of) good thing until it’s gone. Since the Lagos State government banned Okadas and keke napeps in February 2020, Lagosians have been going thruu it!

From being able to dodge the worst of Lagos’ traffic to having some voluntariness in our fitness regimes. Here are all the things we’ll miss now that the ban is here to stay:

That sweet bike breeze that calms your navz when returning home from a long day of taking your boss nonsense.

Have you ever seen anyone angry on a bike? Impossicant.

Not having to choose between eating or taking an Uber home from work.

Lagos bike ban

Forget 1 – 0 – 1, some Nigerians have turned that to 1 – 0 – Ubers.

All those days when we never met our daily fitness goals.

Nigerians are walking 10,000 steps and counting since the ban. Absolutely nobody needs this before and after work okay.

Actually knowing the names and life stories of people at the bus stop.

Waiting in long queues for inadequate buses to come will do that to you.

Being able to cut it close with arrival times at the airports for flights.

No more Gokadas to save the day when you’re late for your flight. If you’re not at the airport a day early, so sorry about that.

Those times we were able to give reasonable ETAs when you have meetings in Lagos.

These days you’ll hear things like ‘between 9 and 4 PM, I’ll reach there sha.

Forget quick bike get-aways when you go to your friend’s house without your parent’s permissions.

If you haven’t budgeted bus stop time, plus Lagos traffic madness in your escape route, just start planning your apology.

What do you miss about bikes and kekes?
