6 Things That Feel Illegal But Actually Aren’t

May 27, 2021

Have you ever performed an action that although was completely legal, felt illegal? Well, even if you think you haven’t, you probably have. Here are six things that feel illegal, but actually aren’t.

1) Cheating on your barber

Every single time you cheat on your barber, you start dodging them. Why? You have the right to see as many barbers as you like, but yet you’d be behaving like a thief, or like someone that is trying to move cocaine across the border. You’re an adult. Cheat with your chest.

2) Entering a bus without change

When you enter a bus and the conductor keeps shouting “no change, hold your fifty naira”, but you know that it’s ₦1000 in your pocket. When you finally tell the conductor you have 1k, everyone in the bus looks at you like you declared your intention to start farming children. That’s sha their business. You’ve said your own.

3) Asking for a raise

Maybe there’s some unwritten rule that you can’t ask for a raise where you work. Instead, you wait for them to notice your efforts. That’s why whenever you ask your bosses for a raise, it feels like you’re about to perform another version of Money Heist. You’re not a thief! You’re a tired worker, abeg.

4) Being on the phone in front of your parents

If you accidentally take a call in front of your parents, you start to feel like someone that is planning an attack on the nation. When you’re done, they start asking a lot of questions. Phone call, not hostage negotiation. So, why does it feel illegal to do it?

5) Sharing streaming accounts

People are broke and times are tough, so it makes no sense why when people find out you’re sharing an account with someone, they treat you like you’re embezzling public funds? We can’t keep defending and fighting for large corporations. Cheat them and fight the system.

6) Eating at midnight

Grabbing a midnight snack sometimes feels like a robbery operation. You’d be sneaking into your kitchen as if you’re afraid to wake up the real owners of the food. The Federal government hasn’t banned midnight eating yet, so feel free and enjoy yourself. Don’t be rushing the food.
