Life comes fast at you. One minute, you’re gloating about how tight your FIFA skills are and how nobody living can give you a lesson. But 20 minutes later, an unassuming player has done what you thought was impossible, trashing you and making you doubt all the skills you thought you had accumulated. This is a trap a lot of guys fall in, and when it happens, they try to get in front of the situation with one or all of these excuses.

“My Pad isn’t working”

The first excuse in the book. Hit the poor thing against your palms to show your frustration. Why should you blame yourself when there is a controller willing to take the fall for your incompetence? But when your opponent offers to switch with you, decline and say something in the lines of “I will manage it like that.”

“This is the first time I’m playing in a long time”

You see, the moment you stop playing these games, you lose all the knowledge you’ve acquired about them, and when you pick up the controller again, you have to relearn all the basics. No, that’s not true, you just suck at playing.

“You’re using the better team”

You were at liberty to choose any football team and that’s what you did. But when your opponent floors you, you have to believe that it’s only because he used a better team. And that’s what you should run with.

“The noise was too much”

Of course, you needed all the concentration you could get, but the noisy ambience robbed you of that and gave your opponent the advantage. Your opponent might be impervious to noise, but you’re not.

“I wasn’t in the mood”

I have only one question: “why the hell did you pick up the pad?”
