It was a big showcase of Nigeria’s massive pool of talents at the StudyUK Alumni Awards on the night of February 15, 2025.

The StudyUK Alumni Awards had its 11th edition, and if you weren’t there—I have come to feed you the gists. From award-winning women’s moments to numbers of present talents, this year’s event was nothing short of memorable.

Here are the five things you totally missed if you weren’t in the room.

First time in Abuja

Since this alumni award was established, its 2025 edition is the first in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.

Networking opportunities

It was a full house that provided professional meetups and gave people new business and career relationships. Several professionals and government personnel including Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister for Education, was present in the room.

All-women winners

The winners of all award categories at the event are women. From Social Action to Culture and Creativity to Business and Innovation, it reigned feminine supremacy.

The first-timers

The 2025 StudyUK Alumni Awards had some first timers. The event brought Charlie Walker, the organisation’s Director of International Operations, to Nigeria for the first time.

It’s also Donna McGowan’s first major event in Nigeria as British Council’s country director.

Live entertainment

Krump Dance Studios brought the heat with a dance performance that was a delicious mashup of salsa, legwork, and traditional vibes. They left the crowd wanting more.
