The management of the University of Ilorin has advised its students to be vigilant and security conscious due to the kidnapping (and eventual release) of one of its students, Omoniyi Olumide.

The kidnapping took place 2 weeks ago at GRA Ilorin where Mr. Omoniyi (the victim) was stranded after a commercial bike rider had dropped him off without taking him to his destination.
Mr. Omoniyi says a stranger drove up to and offered him a ride which he accepted. He noticed upon entering the car that two other occupants were unconscious. He soon suffered the same fate and when he came to, realized he was in a ritualists' den somewhere in Offa town, Kwara State.
From Offa, he was transferred to another ritualists' den in Ogbomoso. It was when he got there he realized victims were being rejected. He being one of them.
They already had enough boys and needed more girls.
He was to be set free.
However, before letting him go, they cut his nails and forced him to drink his own urine and blood (from an unknown source).
Mr. Omoniyi is safe now with his family. He was able to send a distress text message to the school management which led to him being picked up from where the ritualists dumped him.
Dr. Alex Akanmu, the sub-dean of student's affairs of the university has warned students against accepting lifts from strangers so no one else goes through Mr. Omoniyi went through.
